How long does it take for pine cones to season?

I am not sure how long it takes, but I'd say that if they start quickly and burn hot enough to be a useful fire starter, they are seasoned.[/quote]

Pine cones are dry... when they are dry.

We had a high of 48 F yesterday. I had burned a fire in the morning and the house was 75 or 76. At 8:00 last night it was still 72 so I burned another fire that I restarted with a couple pieces of fatwood and some kindling. If I would have burned the stove just to burn it, it would have been in the 80 easily in here and a waste of wood.

I'm with you, Lligetfa. The house overheats. For the last week it's been like Spring here, warm and rainy. I don't mind letting the furnace run now and then, and I don't mind using a few Super Cedars.
