Made a low of 5 overnight, which was one deg warmer than our coldest this season. I ran the GW aquastat at 185*, anticipating colder temps. But it don't wanna warm up too quickly this AM.
With the generator not completely hooked up, I dread hearing ice in the 'cast. Seems there is a chance it will be snow, though, so here's hoping for the best.

Then they are calling for single digit nights Wed thru next Monday. Looks like I better get back into the woods and pick up some more chubby gurls. A couple of 16" rounds at 18" length had to be positioned just right last night, but they make for a sweet overnight ride.

Jimbo, 22 below zero last night in the foothills of the Adirondacks. Basement temp when I reloaded at 6:00 this morning was 75, living room upstairs 65 and the bedroom 64. Not bad for 22 below.

30 here right now, yesterday was 16 late afternoon then it started going up.38 expected later today with 1 to 2 inches snow mixed with sleet just starting in western part of state.Up to 1/10th inch of ice, followed by snow.High of 14 tommorow,8-10 rest of week.I'd rather have a foot of snow than any of that f-ing ice! :shut:

They were calling for 5 degrees F here last night so I broke into the emergency stash of 6 year old Red Oak in large splits. I will probably use the rest of it up later this week. We're expecting more single digits. it doesn't get below zero more than a handful of nights each year here.

We hit -4 this weekend. The stove kept up fine. I am more worried about the 1" plus of ice that we might get tonight/tommorrow. Gotta get more wood in the basement and test the genny today.

Yup, we're to get 1-3 today and 1-3 tonight after this system from the south pushes through, then the cold air from the plains moves in. We're forecast for single digit to low teen highs and below 0 lows. I may be sleeping on the couch to keep our 2 hour firebox glowing through the nights.

We may need to keep our two portable 8 and 9 pound feline heaters close by.

We are right at the end of the big storm right now. Temperature is 32 and just some very light snow. The end of the snow is about to the county line so it is basically done. How much did we get? Let's just say I won't be using the snow blade. Stupid forecasters are getting worse for some odd reason.

Had -12 here Sunday nite/Monday morn. Today 30 ish with a mess of snow/rain/freezing rain/sleet. Loaded up GW w large rounds of Ash,Cherry<and Hard Maple. Kept up no problem w the low temps. Looks like gonna start dropping after tonite. May have a chance to enjoy hot tub tonite if the precip stops before I get home from work. How has the 20 week burn method been working for ya Jimbo. I know I am going to be way over the 20 week mark here. Just did the math and I am at week 14 now.

dealing with the ice here as well and some really low temps headed for the weekend. ice sucks. snow is fun. dont enjoy shoveling ice.

Forecasters are relying too much on computers and not enough on their own minds I think.....

Looks like it will start getting cold here also, on Saturday they are calling for a high of minus 3. I'll get the sugar maple then the birch and see how it is after that.

Lots of sparks...lol Its up there not sure but great stuff.

Starting to get cold around here too, but the real fun looks to be Tomorrow and Friday. Wind chill forecast to go down to -20 to -29*F which is very cold for here. Sounds like a good recipe for Lake Effect as well, but that'll be just east of me as ussual.
Methinks the insert will be needing some help from the furnace for the next couple of days.
