The dealer uses MetalFab pipe. MetalFab says they use Stove Brite flat black on their pipe. Stove Brite doesn't make an Ivory in their high temp line. SB does make a Jotul Ivory in their gas vent pipe paints, BUT it is only good for 250 F.

Thurmalox makes an Ivory, but they said it had to be painted onto bare metal.

I found 3 cans of Jotul Ivory Flat Pipe paint, can this be sprayed over the Stove Brite flat black, or will it need to go over bare metal too?

Help!! Anybody else done this?

I vote you try it on one small section - close to the stove for highest temps - and let us know. Might be the only way to answer the question for sure.

I've used thurmalox over SB on pellet stoves with no ill effect (P Series steel bodied stove, they get pretty hot, not as hot as wood stove, but too hot to touch).

So where did you get the Jotul paint? I tried to have mine painted about 10 years ago, Jotul Oslo Green, with no success. The pipe is flat black and doesn't look bad.

Quote: I’m pretty sure what you’ve found is for gas DV pipe.
It won’t withstand the temps of the wood stove connector…

The can says it is good for 1200 F.

Sorry, they only had Ivory and Grey.

We were told by our dealer that they could order the Majorica Brown spray paint for the pipe that matched our stove from Jotul. Unfortunetly it only works on double wall pipe so that ruled out our using it. I would think Jotul would also make it in their other colours.

Dave_1, thanks for the links. I need to find Ivory, though. DW really wants the vent pipe paint to match the Jotul Ivory stove. The plan is to install the Oslo in Ivory IF I can get the pipe painted to match the stove. Otherwise, the deal is off. She might go for brown, but not until all hope is lost for the Ivory.

Got word via PM that they use Thurmalox over flat black paint routinely with good results.

OK, last hurdle cleared. Ordering Jotul Ivory paint and an Ivory Oslo.

Thanks to ALL for all the help with paint and other questions over the past couple of weeks.

Finally the stove pipe is painted, along with the heat shields, the ceiling box and trim. We used a paint stripper to remove all the black paint. We masked off the entire corner of the room and used a fan in a nearby window to remove the fumes from the stripper and later the Ivory paint and clear topcoat. We painted the stove pipe in place. I also used a respirator (borrowed from work) so that I could stay in the "paint booth" for longer than a couple of minutes. It all seemed to work out OK. The stove pipe and stove look great. The Thurmalox Ivory matches pretty good. Thanks for all the help from folks here on the forum, couldn't have done it all without the help.

I also picked up some ideas on building woodsheds and on splitters, so I am posting pictures of ALL of it. I built a 10' X 10' open sided shed and filled one half of it before hot weather. In the hot Arkansas summer the wood seemed to dry well and is burning fine. I also acquired a Ramsplitter electric with a 2 HP/3600 RPM motor. I had ~100' of #10/4 wire left over from building our house and made an extension cord using it. The splitter works great. I think the woodshed will hold 2 years supply of wood, if the calculations are correct, we'll see this winter.

I have learned a lot from this forum........THANKS AGAIN!!

Thats exactly what I said when I saw the Picture :bug:

O.K., you know what you have to do now, don't you? Yep, you've got to run a 100' trench to your splitter station, and bury your 10/4, right? One job begets another, as we all know!

The stove looks really, really nice with the matching connector. I wonder how many additional stoves Jotul would sell if they just offered custom colored connectors too?

Amazing! If I could have had the pipe painted prior to install, it would have been a no brainer. Unfortunately, the contractor gave me nothing but grief when I mentioned it. So...the Ivory Jotul is intalled with black pipe. It doesn't look bad, (will try to post a photo, next time I get to the house) but it doesn't look as great as yours. The good part is..I finally got it installed at all!

Stove looks really nice, but man-oh-man you gotta do something about those yellow electrical outlet covers.
