called local TSC today to get price on pellets they have Hamers there for 225.00 a ton. What do you guys think. I have never burnt Hamers, good price or no.

Great pellets, and that price isn't terrible.

Best deal going is the Stove Chow at Home Depot @ $178

Have you tried the Hamers yet? Some with the Mt Vernon have complained of huge clinkers with them. Not a bad price, But the HD/Lowes deal is pretty popular if you can get the stove chows.

If these are the same as Hardwood Heat that TSC sells then Yes, I like them a lot, in fact I'm burning them now. Great heat, average ash, no other issues. I'm going to back to TSC and pick up a ton.

j-takeman------I have not tried Hamers but looking for opinions. Dont know if you remember but we have corresponded before reference Barefoot pellets. I have used barefoots for years and never an issue, THIS year clinkers all the time that the stove cant clean. Seems like the clinker starts to form on the sides and is never able to drop during the auto clean. I have never had build up on sides of pot before it is ridiculous sometimes. I have tried different settings the one that works the best is corn but I dont get enough heat out of that settimg then. Do you think I would have same issue with Hamers? I think issue is with the batch of barefoots I wound up with.

Hard to say, I don't own the stove. But feel the Hamers as one of the densest brands out there. I would grab say 4 to 6 bags for a good long burn just in case. How much of the Barefoots do you need to burn thru?

2 tons left. I normally go through 5 tons. With the temps in NJ this winter I think I need 1 more ton so that oil furnace doesnt kick on.

The Hamers that TSC and Agway sell are NOT "Hot Ones". Hamers makes both Hot Ones and Hardwood Heat, the Hot Ones are the much better of the 2. I bought the Hamers from TSC last year thinking I was going to get the Hot ones. For another $20 you can get the Hot Ones in Hackettstown at Tickners, just found them this week.
BTW where in NJ do you get your Barefoots? SOS Stoves $265 per ton? If there is a better place around here let me know. Thanks

Dont know about that they specifically said they had Hardwood Heat and Hamers Hot ONes. I get Barefoots in Bangor, PA, just over Portland Bridge @ Millers Feed Store.

SOS is a big rip-off.... I would stay away... IMOP

Andy You got Barefoots for $187 a ton? Where, which TSC, I'm in Sparta but I'll travel 2 hrs to get that.
If it's not Barefoots what pellet did you get for $187 a ton?
Of the 10 or so brands I've tried Barefoots are the best so far. Waiting to get my stove fixed befroe I try Hamers Hot Ones.

Hi burnit... That are not barefoots, they are hammers brand at TSC in Sussex. I have been burning them for 2 weeks and like them alot, no problem at all with heat output.

I bought 20 bags of Hamers Hot Ones from TSC in Flanders for $3.74 a bag ($187 a ton).
They were horrible! My stove was never so dirty and I burned through two bags a day. I think it may be that the store all their pellets outside underneath tarps.
