Here is the forecast for my neck of the woods:

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around -33. Wind chill values as low as -46. North wind between 3 and 7 mph.

Some of the Adirondacks are forecasting -39.

Looks like a cold one; it's -7 right now (4:35 pm). I'll check in Monday morning with an update.

My overnight low was when I started gathering up my paperwork to do my taxes...

I had -42, only -23 now! Woohoo!

Tonights low will be -26 F. They have issued a wind chill warning here for our area. Not too worried though because we are very cozy with the 13-NC ;-) !

10 here last night and supposed to be 5 tonight. Not as cold as some of you guys but it has been 15 to 17 below average highs and lows since the first week in December and no signs of anything different. Sick of it. If we make it down to five that will be a 92 degree temp swing from mid-Summer.

Moisture coming up from the Gulf to meet the cold air you guys are sending down so Wed. on is gonna get interesting.

Bundle up my Northern friends. Don't know how you guys do it.

Wind Chill Advisory for this area -25, I was just outside and the winds they are calling for aren't here yet.

After our low of -8 Friday night I realize there is no way I could survive a -40 night like some of you guys with just wood heat. Well, on second thought I could close off some of the rooms upstairs and let the house drop to the low 60's but I would'nt do it more than once.

10F last night, talkin -2 to -4 tonight. Break out those big slabs o' red oak!!!!

It was -6F on Saturday morning. It was only down to +10F here this morning. They're calling for +4 tonight. Cold sure makes it obvious which parts of the house aren't well enough insulated.

OMG, check in so we know you survived. :wow: When I lived in upstate NY, along the Canadian border, I remember going to work one morning and it was -40 and that wasn't counting the wind chill factor. brrrrr Glad we only spent 2.5 winters there.

Sat night/Sun morning - 4
Sun night/Monday morning forcast is -11. Not a record, but close which is -14

-17 Friday night. Current heating situation is not adequate for this kind of weather.

-10 here at 7:30, crystal clear night. We're going down, down, down. Times we've had -20 or so before, it hasn't come close until after midnight, so I think we're going below that tonight for sure.

I'm with you, Rockey. I know when I'm beaten before I can get out of the starting gate. I'm OK with lower house temps and I have my 2nd floor bedrooms blocked off anyway, but no way my tiny stove can keep up with this. I caved and called the oil company last week and I'm taking a few days off from serious wood-burning.

I did just light a fire in the stove to see what would happen, and man, the draft is monstrous. Whoosh! Full load in a very cold stove completely engaged in under 5 minutes. Secondaries rolling like crazy right now.

Last night -10 tonight. -10 to -25 wc -20 to -40
This morning house was 81 downstairs and 77 upstairs coldest bedroom was 70
Thank god for fans lol!

I think you've chosen the wrong handle, Iceman.

Each to his/her own, of course, but ugh! I would find that much heat absolutely stifling and would be throwing open doors and windows to get relief.

-8 °F outside right now inside is 81°F in the stove room about 72°F in the bedrooms burning pine now with a full load of beech for the overnighter . 2/3 cord pine left for the remainder of the year :long: then its all beech and oak with a dash of ash

Should be like -40 tonight here but I am roasting inside between the cranking Regency down stairs and the Harmon pellet stove upstairs lol. Bring on the cold, I might need to crack a window.

Calling for -19* tonight, and a high of 5* tomorrow. Just filled up a load of red oak - will do again at about 2 or 3 am - oh joy! Cheers!

Right now it is 6.6F is going down to -8F with a windchill of -30F.
It is also 76 in the house right now. The Jotul treats me good.

Supposed to be -30 to -40 with the wind chill tonight, -13 right now. Super 27 is cruising in the basement with a full load of red and white oak and it's 72 degrees on the first floor. I've got some nice big oak rounds just waiting to go in the stove later on for the last load of the night. I'd say the Super 27 is holding it's own =)

What makes it even better is that heating oil is $3.00+ per gallon and the gauge on my tank has moved very little, if any, over this frigid weekend. I actually checked to make sure the gauge wasn't stuck.

Wind chill doesn't count. 20 below and clear here now and dropping like a rock.
