Alright!! Who the hell ordered -11*F for tonight? I thought last nights -4F was carrying things too far, jacked up the oil temp to 69* just to keep our pipes from freezing. (Afraid to run the pellet stove all night with a past history of intermittently filling the pot, don't need an uncontrolled fire there when I'm not present, CO and all that. Don't care if we have CO detectors.).

We'll live with it but we don't have to be happy campers.

Not as cold as you, we are to have -5 tonight. The other night was -8....that was cold,
but I had my Harman pf100 furnace running, and never missed a beat.....trustworthy...
Will stay warm again tonight, not to worry about the pipes freezing....

Was -11 here on Saturday. Have ran the oil furnace at 69 degrees for a couple of weeks now as a back up temp. The Accentra pellet insert has been non-stop since last of Nov '10. Here lately it depends on outside temp as to the settings of insert. No function problems here.

Last night we had - 29 ..... top that.... and my Sante Fe was a little trooper...

-12°F outside, 72°F inside throughout the 1250 sq. ft. main floor as well as near 70°F in any bedroom we leave open to receive the heat on our 2nd floor (also 1250 sq. ft.), and that is with the pellet furnace running on Level 3 out of 5.

Not me, The older I get the more I become fair weathered. Sitting in a nice toasty 74ºF house suites me just fine! Hauled a ton of pellets in today with a whopping high of 14ºF, Kept moving fast just to stay warm.

It was a special ordered event to try out everyone's backup heating arrangements and freeze protection systems.

ETA: The winners are those who's pellet devices, backup devices, and freeze protection systems all functioned properly.

Here in NH, forecast to be -10 to -20... before wind chill. -25 to -30 with the wind chill. Hope you are all staying warm... It'll be a good week to use the temperature gun to find those air leaks in the old house.

Yeah.... so:

"VERY COLD AIR WILL COMBINE WITH LIGHT WINDS TO PRODUCE DANGEROUS CONDITIONS OVERNIGHT INTO MONDAY MORNING. SINCE AIR TEMPERATURES WILL BE VERY COLD... 10 TO 30 BELOW ZERO... EVEN LIGHT WINDS WILL HAVE A SIGNIFICANT EFFECT ON WIND CHILL READINGS. WIND CHILLS OVERNIGHT AND EARLY MONDAY WILL DROP TO NEAR 30 BELOW NEAR THE COAST... AND AS LOW AS 40 TO 45 BELOW IN THE MOUNTAINS AND FOOTHILLS."

-16* F right now, stove cranked higher than I think I have ever had it and keeping the house nice and toasty. I have the furnace set to a higher temp to, just in case but not to worried. The hopper is full and I will be back up at 6Am anyway so not worried about it running out. I'm ready for April though, it snowed this morning too!

-10f here with wind chill -20. drafty 1500 sq ft house.

pdvc running full bore. oil off (its forced hot air so no pipes to freeze)

house is 77 and climbing. its a bit too hot but i'm letting it stay that way because the temps are dropping overnight and the house will hold temp better if it was too hot to begin with.

today my neighbor came over while wife and I were carrying in pellets. she said shes been paying 1200 a month for oil just to keep the house 67. wife, who was kinda complaining about carrying in pellets, smiled and said hmm these bags dont feel that heavy anymore!

lol.

-23 here now and the harman is cranked and the curran softwoods are burning fine a balmy 74 in here my old 2000 SF two story house they say we could see -30 and wind chill of -40

You aren't even close....it was -46 in International Falls. 5th coldest on record in the US.

Yeah... but you dont live their ....so...doesn't count...

-25.4*F this morning, I've had enough!

-13 here this morning and the pellet stove with Okies in it, did just fine in this old house, no oil needed :)

Yesterday morning when it was - 29 ... my Sante fe kept it just above 60 heating 1400 square feet. So considering the temps and the fact that the Sante Fe is a little unit it did good.....no complaints here ...

Negative 22° here this morning - scarry cold. I have never seen the Harman P61A with such a fire, I think that I have it maxed out. We are warm and toasty though. I did just run the oil heat for about an hour to give the stove a bit of a break and scrape out the burn pot. Don't need it quite this cold!

I have the same stove and I turned up the feed rate, temp and blower higher than I ever have before. Its a heck of a stove and I'm glad I went with this one vs the PC 45 or (really thankful on this one) the XXV!

Whats wrong with the XXV? I'm running with no issues, and not even close to max right now. I checked my outside thermometer and we hit -14 this morning, this is an old house and the XXV with Okies did just fine ;-)

Nothing wrong with the XXV at all, my wife and I were VERY close to buying it ourselves. It just seems like there are a lot of threads on this forum from XXV owners that are having issues and VERY few from owners of the P61A, that's all. We really like the look of the XXV but it was, I think at the time, more expensive than the P61 and was rated for lower BTU's so we went with the P61A.

I understand, I almost bought the P61 or P68 but I was more worried about how it would look for what I was doing. I needed the top vent kit that the XXV had, this way I could install it where a wood stove used to be, it worked beautifully. I think the P61 or P68 would have been overkill for my 1500 sq ft, it appears for now that I was right, it doesn't get much colder than this, so I made the right choice.

Saw -23 this morning at 5am. Had the stove keeping the house about 70, burning okies and turned about 1/3 of the way up. Last time we temps close to this I was over half way up and burning cubex. Should I mention this is in a 18 year old Austroflamm. I did wake up and wonder if the baseboard was going to be alright as I haven't used it all year, went to turn it up and realized I never turned the heat on for this zone this year. Good thing the stove has been running reliably since October.
The chickens really aren't appreciating this weather.

My girls have been complaining about breaking their beaks on hard water and want to know why I haven't installed a water softener for them.

They have also filed a police report, someone has obviously stolen their heater.

-12* F this morning, the Breckwell in the basement ran on level 3 all night with Hamer's. The house was 68 this morning as the sun was coming up. Only lost 2 degrees overnight. NO oil assistance. :) I must say i love my pellets! Now to get the second stove for the upsatirs. cant wait. :)
