Where do you stand on wood usage this year? I have seen different furnaces being purchased, and was wondering how consumption was? I'm curious with some of the new furnaces, and those with others where they stand at this year.

We have a Caddy heating 2400Sq. Ft. with 10' ceilings plus the basement. Currently was have used about 3.5 cords of wood since October.

Burned just under 3, since whenever I neeed heat. Got a somewhat drafty 1600 ft ranch. Gas furnace doesn't work.

Any others?

I'm burning more than normal, but kinda on purpose.
I'm gonna add on to the house this summer and the reserve wood pile is in the way. So it has been being moved INTO the furnace.
I also have NOT been mixing coal this year which is eating up more wood along with extra cold temps.
If we have normal temps the next 2-3 months I'm guessing I'm gonna hit 8-9 cord.I started Sept 21 this year and haven't let up and normally go til April 20 with fires on and off till the end of May.

You burning a woodchuck?

We have a Super Jack heating 3300 sq feet. Last year we had used about 1000 gallons of propane through January. This year we have used about 150 gallons and 4 cords of wood. I expect it to get better next year with a chimney liner.

We are at about 3 cords in right now 1.5 cords in the boiler and 1.5 cords in the wood cookstove! This is heating about 3000 sqft.

gone through around 4 cord.

3200 foot with a super jack

i'm burning an old jesen 24a which is the same as a new ashley 24a stove. its heating 1700 sq ft. we have burned 4.5 cords so far of ash and some oak.

2,000 sq ft split level northern Pa. since october i burned 3 cords mixed hardwoods and heat solely with my Englander wood furnace maintaining a temperature around 74

I've burned about 3 cords since November 1st to heat 3000 sq ft. I don't burn 24/7, but closer to 24/5. I've been burning alot of osage orange this year and it has easily saved me a cord compared to last year. I love the stuff. burns hot and long too. Using a Hotblast 1557.

Going on four cords and down to semi seasoned (I'll be sweeping this weekend with snow on the roof-fun!) wood mixed with all the pallets I can scrounge. This winter really took me by surprise, plus this year's wood supply was mostly crap-lot's of silver maple, poplar, and unidentifiable junk that wasn't very dense and burned like paper. No matter-I have 2 cords of pin oak plus a cord of ash and a cord of black walnut that will be ready for winter '11/'12. I cord of the pin oak is probably worth 2 cords of the junk wood I've been burning this year-such is the life of a scrounger. I keep hoping to come into a motherload of honey locust or osage orange one of these days.

Have the modded Englander 28-3500 and have gone through around 3 cords. 2400 sq ft. keeping house at 74-75. I can't believe how much wood I don't burn! loving every minute of it though.

5 cords burnt as of 1/2 hour ago...lol 2600 sqft full wind!

Have you posted a thread about this? If so, can you direct me to it? If not, can you!?

Try at your own risk! So far, I'm loving it. The pipes are holding up just fine. I've modified the setup since the pics, but it includes firebrick with a fiberboard baffle to close up the gaps between the firebrick. I also left the metal baffle in. Crammed it all in and made sure to add firebrick in the back of the firebox where the two brackets are welded. They don't butt up to the back completely so exhaust escaped. https://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/forums/viewthread/60405/P45/

With our modded Vogelzang Norseman 2500 (detailed in the same thread Freeburn linked to), we've burned 3 cords so far. We haven't used our electric baseboards at all and keep the house around 70. I think we'll be at just about 4 cords even at the end of April.

I'm thrilled with the mods and the furnace performance!
