One of the buildings at work had a pear and a couple aspens dropped in front of them. I was able to fill my trailer with free wood. I've never burned hardwood before so I'm pretty excited to burn this pear next year.

That's the same question I have. I think it'll end up being the best wood I have. Right now my highest btu is the chinese elm. For next year I'll have some silver maple and that's my best. I'm thinking this pear, while only a 1/4 cord or so, should be my highest btu.

Apple is 26.5, so if Pear is close you have some nice btu's in your trailer.

Hey, that would be great if it's that high of btu's!

Pear is just a little lighter in density than Apple, though not by much. Excellent for fuel, smoking meat & fish.Have a 30 yr old tree in backyard, not much fruit on it past few yrs,but love using the prunings in the Brinkmann.

Rule of thumb says if it produces fruit, it is good to burn. Pear is very close to apple.

Looks good. Let use know how the pear burns. I have some dead/dying ones on the property that I've thought about cutting down but was unsure if it was worth the effort as they are pretty old/stooped and a bit gnarly while still being fairly small in diameter.
