Service guys were here today to address some cold air coming in from underneath the stove. They stuffed it with some ceramic cloth. While they were here I was going over the air controls. What the salesman had told me and what I was reading in the book was confusing me. Well the salesman had told me wrong. I was closing off the air wash system and leaving the air control open. Now maybe my window will clear up and my wood won't burn so fast.

ALSO, I started a fire this evening .... and ..... NO SMOKE!!! Aren't you all proud of me. :cheese:

I'll see if I can find some basic instructions from a class I took a long time ago. Perhaps it might help.

You're getting there Barb. Better every day. At this rate you'll be a champ by end of the season. Remember, a sales "expert" (ex-spurt) is just a drip under pressure.

That's just the second half of the joke. Actually it's "X spurt" where X is an unknown quantity.

No way ..... either way. The knowledge and experience that you and others share on this forum can't be found in a manual. I am thankful for all the help. Keep up the good work. Newbies like me appreciate you.

As do semi-seasoned morons, such as myself. Dennis, while you're laid up recovering from the hip replacement, think about writing a "How-to" on burning a woodstove. Without a doubt, you're a respected resource, so compiling your experience and knowledge in a easily referenced web-page (or whatever it would be, i don't know), that would really help a lot of people. BTW, speedy recovery. JB
