Hi ! Great site here! Im going to buy my 3rd ton of pellets this season after 2 unsuccesfull tons of newp. Which of these would you use and why? Ive tried a few bags of clean energy and presto logs and seem to burn well in my stove but out of these 4 choices what are the best? Clean energy, presto logs, hammer hot ones or green way. Im looking for the best heat output as I can buy each of these for the same price. Thanks!!

Prestologs I was really impressed with them especially for the $187 ton at Lowe's.
Hammers were ok but I think I was expecting more from all the raves about these pellets, they are a real small sized pellet and some stoves may have issues burning them. The Hammers will be more money, I think I paid $250 a ton for them.
Haven't tried any of the other brands you mentioned except the NEWP and a few years ago they were great but the last batch I tried a couple of years ago I didn't like them.
I am actually thinking of getting a couple of tons of the Prestologs.
The Stove Chow has been good this year too if it is available around your location.

Hamer's are head and shoulders above the rest of the pellets you listed. Then Clean Energy or Greenway (tie), and Presto-Logs.

I know you said you had good luck with the Presto's, but after you test burn the Hamer's, I think you'll change your opinion of them....they are not a great pellet by any means.

You are in NY see if Lowes has Somersets for sale. they are very good this year.

I have found one thing to be consistant with all pellets in my Harman accentra insert. By day 4 after cleaning I only get a max output of 210-220 no matter what brand I use. On day 1 of a clean stove I have had max temp of 260 from oakie, cleanfire and Andes. By day 2 around 230-240 and by day 4 I dont care what pellet I use max temp always is the same 220-230. I have also used stove chow, hammers, lignetics hardwood, press to log, greenteam, new england and probably a half dozen others all with the same thing. Day 1 250 or so day 4 220 day 6 just 200. So for me a cleaning of the exchanger and tubes every 3rd-4th day is a pain but needed during the very cold months. On the buffer sides every 2 weeks cleaning no problem.

Hamers throw tremendous heat, But they don't burn all that long(not a problem if you use a stat). Also some stoves have seen clinker issues(surprisingly a multifuel stove even!). Greenway and Clean Energy are pretty close. Pres to Logs have baffled me, Some batches are outstanding, some are decent heat but lots and lots of ash. I have burned 6 bags from 3 batches I got at lowes. Darned if one batch was anything like the others.

I would be all over the Somersets if you can find them. One of the best you'll get from the bigbox besides Hamers or Hardwood Heat. Stove Chow and SIH hardwoods are others to keep an eye out for.
