So I thought I'd share. We had a Napoleon 1101 insert for two years that wasn't cutting it. We had no intentions of installing anything this year, but the 2010 tax credit and a local dealer giving us a good deal on a left over new Defiant changed our minds.

So we tore out the catty-cornered wall and insert and installed the Defiant there. Totally transformed the living room!

Wish I'd have taken more pictures through the process.

The new stove is a little more complicated to operate but we love what it is doing!
The heat output difference is night and day. We struggled to keep the stove room 66* with bedroom doors closed and rooms freezing, now 75* is easy, with 68* bedrooms depending on weather.

Bottom and top air gaps for wall heat shield.

Had to use it without some pieces of double walled stove pipe due to back orders.

VC wants $200 for the rear and bottom heat shields, so I just cut my own from sheet metal.

Nice change. That is quite an improvement. Good to hear that the stove is working well for you.
