Just wondering what states charge tax on fuel for heat. I Know ohio charges on kerosene but not sure on other fuel.

shhh dont give them any ideas !!!!!!!!!!!!

No tax on pellets in Wisconsin! :cheese:

Maine and Massachusetts do NOT tax home heating fuel.

New York has lots of lawyers and politicians. So we need lots of laws and taxes to create artificial jobs to support all these non-value added entities in this state!

NY taxes most things - to the tune of 8 1/4% in Dutchess county - but surprisingly fuel pellets are currenlty exempt. I believe home heating fuel is also exempt which is why some people here drive diesel trucks! -- A good idea until you get caught. :)

MAINE DOES ,Its collected as a "fee" at point of bulk delivery per barrel. The fee is for enviomental clean up ,I'm quite sure these cost are not absorbed by the oil delivery companies but passed on to the end user.

Ok, then since everything has to rest somewhere where property taxes are paid then everything has a tax on it.

HUH?

Here in Oregon, fuel oil is taxed if its used ON ROAD and the off road stuff is died red and non taxed.

We have so far managed to keep the fools with ideas of sales tax away.

There are no doubt taxes burried in the electricity bill and other sneeky places.

I burn the nut shells and thats a waste biomass product from farming so its a cash and carry out the door, glad to see it go type thing.

Sure glad they dont tax the air we breathe.

Too much taxes, just a bridge too far me thinks.

South Carolina charges tax on pellets. 7%

Washington state charges approx. 8.6% sales tax depending on the county you live in.

Agree with RonB, NY is one of the most heavily-taxed States in the entire US, property taxes are especially brutal where I live in Western NY (we pay to subsidize expenses from NYC and our bloated gov'ts across the State). Wood pellets and heating fuels (LP gas, Natural Gas, heating oil, etc.) are not taxed (yet), one of the rare items exempt from sales tax. Our gasoline taxes more than make up for the lack of taxes on heating fuels. :shut:

No tax as of yet on pellets in Maryland.

Could change since we have a 1.6 Billion shortfall this year.

Trying to hike the liquor tax which could increase a 1.75 liter bottle by $7.00 (dime a drink)

Rather pay the sales tax on pellets!
