My HD just went up to $197/ton...sign of things to some? Looks like they'd REDUCE since it's about time to roll out the seasonal items for spring/summer. Guess I better use that 10% off coupon I just got from HD's website TODAY...my Dobeboy had a change of address ;-P

Still $3.74 per bag for Chow at my local HD, and several tons remain in-stock. Every time I go out there, I pick up 6-8 bags just to keep my supply topped off.

Dont have Stove Chow here at my Local HD. But there still selling for $177/ton. Just got 5 tons of there Lignetic Presto-Logs... Was that or Natures Heat, and the Prestos work well for me. That $177 is without the 10% off coupon. Thats the regular price. Been reading alot about the $187/ton, normally our prices in Ohio along with our taxes are Crazy High!

I was at Home Depot in Bristol CT. yesterday and they only had Nation’s Choice in stock and it is now back up to $209 a ton or $4.18 per bag. They didn’t have too much of it. I also had to stop at Lowe’s in Plainville CT. and they only had SIH pellets, saw about 20 tons out back. It was still was $187 a ton or 3.74 a bag. I got 3 bags of the SIH to try.

HD just delivered another 6 tons 30 mins ago :)

$187/ton (i paid last week)

he got all 6 in the garage i'm thrilled. now i have 15 tons of stove chow on hand. i never intended to have this many at any one time but at one point they were going for $315 a ton so when it dropped, i stocked up. now i have a few years to shop for deals.

stove chows have been great too. great enough to commit to 15 tons.

What a bummer. Both Home Depot and Lowe's in Danvers went up as well. I also called some surrounding locations and they are all now $209. I was going to go next week. Oh well $209 still isn't bad with a 10% coupon.

I'm all set until 2013.

According to the current crop of wackos the world ends in 2012 so what do I care?

It probably will for a short time, but the average person won't be able to support the higher prices. In the end, it will come back down to less than what it is now. The stock market guys are gambling a bit more on fuel so the price is up but it won't last.

I am not sure that the price going up will have all that much to do with the stock market , but more to do with the housing/ Logging industries not running at full capacity over the summer. And therefore scraps for pellets being less. In conjunction with more pellet mills coming online the demand for the raw material for the pellets will be at a premium. Factor in the current unrest in Egypt, and what that could do for the oil supply from the middle east and, oil possibly hitting $100 a barrel by the summer.

I will take my chances at stocking up now and if the prices do drop continue to add to the pile. I could see the prices going up and then coming back around to $200( at the big box stores) a ton but less than $187 would be a surprise( but anything is possible) .

Just put the first bag in the stove a hour ago. So far so good.

Just stopped by HD today to check the Chow supply. They only had 38 bags left in-store, but clerk said that they had 17 tons "out back"......I asked if they were Chow's, but she didn't know......I may go grab the remaining 38 bags tomorrow anyway. OINK

Oh, and the price went up to $197 yesterday.

Just pulled the trigger today on 6 tons of Chow @ 197.00 a ton, delivering tomorrow.

Just picked up 15 bags at my local HD and the price went up $10.00/ton from last week.

Now $197.00/ton (still not that bad of a price)

The manager at the Annopolis, Md. store said that he was informed that will be going up another $10.oo/ton soon.

just stoped by the HD in lancaster they got chow at 187/ton, with 10% off = 168/ton. they said they have a few tons left. going back to test a few bags and probbly just pick up a few tons, there goes thetax refund lol.

Update on pellet prices in Western MA. HD has Fireside Ultra at $209 a ton ($4.18 a bag), TSC has instant heat @ $199 a ton and Walmart has Penningtons at $5 a pag (didn't get a ton price so i'm not sure if they have a bulk discount). Prices on the rise quick here..
i picked up 3 tons of the Fireside ultra from HD used 10% "moving" coupon and then opened a credit account with them and received $25 off first purchase, 6 months no interest financing and a free 75 min ez-loader truck rental to transport the pellets.

Those HD rental trucks can't carry 3 tons at once, can they?

I just picked up Curran's Renewable Blended product at the Lowes in Milford MA - at $4.18 a bag. They also had Inferno in there too. I believe this is an increase from the last time I went there and pellets were at $3.87.

I also saw an article in the Boston Globe this morning about the price of Oil cruising past $3.45 a gallon. The $4.18 a bag is somewhere south of $2 a gallon oil equivalent. Thank you very much Enviro.

Gweeper: Sign on the the HD rental trucks says it can handle 3000 pounds. So you could do one and a half pallets, I live close by.. only about 4 miles away.. so I might make 3 trips one ton per run so I don't want to deal with breaking up a pallet or maxing out the weight limit. My 3 pallets are paid for and on hold at the store.. will be transporting to my garage this week.

I was at Lowes in Portland,Maine yesterday. $187 a ton. Same prices they've been for quite a few weeks.

Yup, the one in Bel Air went up also.
Went and picked up another ton this morning. They had partial pallets, maybe five of them to make 3 full tons that was it. They covered and shrink wrapped a ton for me and loaded into my truck. Got about 6 miles up the road and the pallet tilted and ripped the plastic and the shrink wrap causing me to lose about 15 bags of pellets. Save what I could and picked the trash off the road. Came home and unloaded and called the store to tell them what happened and they told me to come pick up the bags I lost.
