Feeling the Heat

My girlfriend saw me throwin my boots on this mornin and asked where i was headed. My reply was "out back to stack some wood ya wanna go?" She grabbed her boots and jacket and out we went. She helped me stack over a cord and loved every minute of it. I forgot she used to stack wood for her dads friend growin up lol.

She's helped me load wood in the house before but this just took her over the top in my book. She aint goin anywhere! :cheese:

It's great to hear you are working as a team. My wife is petite, but pitches in with the wood and even runs the stove. She likes wood heat as much as I do.

That's exactly what she said.. As we walked back to the house i said thanks for the help and she replied "hey i benefit from it too!"

Ya, it is really nice. My girlfriend will have to tend the stove by herself for a few days while I'm away. She will get along just fine. I did help her stack more wood on the porch so she doesn't have to go to the barn for any while I'm laid up.

Treat them with TLC!

I never let my girlfriend stack wood, my wife might come home early and catch her!

easy Cate... just kidding.
the wife doesn't think I'm funny either.

Lucky. I coudnt get my wife to help me with wood. She may "break a nail" or mess up her manicure.

Very cool when the gf likes to help!

There it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm? I think I got me a keeper too.
Hard to believe, we've been married exactly 18 years yesterday and my wife still enjoys our forays into the mountains to get firewood, not only that, but she likes posing for pictures with the wood too.

Um. . . .ok, I know I'm a poor judge of age, but . . . the Lady does not look old enough to have been married 18 years. You guys marry at 5 up in BC??!? :wow:

Now, whats all this about there being wood in the pics?

Better treat her good. The good ones are hard to find.

I have absolutely zero complaints that my lovely wife doesn't split/stack wood. We have a pretty traditional division of labor in our house, and we both like it that way. I do some cooking and dishes, but even with all the wood processing, mowing, snow blowing, and kiln firing- I know I'm getting the good end of this deal (and she has coffee/hot chocolate waiting for me when I get in). I'm a lucky SOB and it looks like some of you are as well. It's good to reflect on that once in a while.

She will keep the stove going if I bring wood in- she loves the extra heat.

I'll take that as a compliment, and I imagine she would too.
Actually she was 22 years old when we got married, and now has two sons, the youngest just turned 14 and the oldest will be 16 in March.
Normally I wouldn't go posting pictures of my wife, but we just had our 18th anniversary and after that many year of happy married life I'm feeling a little proud of her. Let me know if that's inappropriate?

Lovely wife and our oldest son.

Pssst. A little known secret for all you single guys lookin for a wife, Philippine women age very gracefully.

It was certainly meant as a compliment  Not sure how far your family is from Vancouver, but it seemed full of beautful Asian women when I was there. Good thing I had a beautiful American woman with me at the time ;-)

At my house I prefer to keep 'wood stuff' to myself, though I know my wife will do whatever's necessary when called upon.

18 years! Rock on!!

"At my house I prefer to keep ‘wood stuff’ to myself,"

Really?

CL- My wife's grandma is from the Philipines. She looks great for my age (I just turned 41, she's 31).

Remember- you're only as old as those that you feel.

I think the chilli fried my brain . . . your wife's GM is 31??

Someone get Dennis back in here! I'm startin to feel ancient :shut:

Can you feel the love in this thread?

I just have to say you fellas complimenting your wives/girlfriends warms my heart. How lucky they are...

Yesterday heading home from work, i knew i had to bring some wood into the garage when i got home before the 2-day snowstorm. When i pulled into the driveway, the garage door was open and wheelbarrow missing. The wifey was making the 125' treck across the yard. She brought in 4 loads. Maybe it was a little much as i snacked on a piece of pizza while watching her from inside.... Shes a good one

My wife doesn't do alot with the gathering process but she will bring it into the house. Yesterday she filled the wood box heaping due to the storm. Which means alot to me so I don't have to do it after a long day at work browsing Hearth.com
