yes, we would all like to know how serious the problem was. PLEASE come back.

Sorry to be getting back to you all so late.

Was chipping 4" of ice dam off my roof this weekend. We have issues over here.

Anyway, the electrician was free (thankfully). He went into the panel with his meter but I didnt see him check the outlet myself.

The lights didnt dim with him here.

After he left we kept the stove on setting one and the lights havent dimmed......after that the lights dim and in
some cases actually flash.

We're going to try the extension cord idea tonight.

I hope you had the stove on high while he was there so there was a chance of the lights dimming. If they are actually flashing...................... wow. Is this guy a certified electrician or just a friend? Did he tighten the terminals in the panel box?

Yup...he's a master electrician and he did check all the connections in the panel.

I've had the stove cranked since i got home and not one light has dimmed.

Starting to think (after wife reminded me).

I was chipping ice dams all weekend because we had a drip in our bedroom.

The light in our bedroom had about 1" of water in the glass bowl and the bed was soaked. Wife noticed it and took care of it.

Havent really seen the dimming since then. But the fan I use to move air for the stove still races.

Ouch,

You might want to check that area for other water damage. Be careful around any wiring in the area. The junction box above the light could still have water in it.

she wanted me to look at it after I got home.

Was scared sh-tless looking at it.....had a metal rod and screw holding the bowl in.

Got everything dried out and keeping our eye on it.

Ice dams can really mess things up.

But the dimming "seems" to have slowed/stopped.

I'm hoping that's all it was.......but we're going to keep watching.

My mom had an almost identical problem after installing a perimeter drain and pump. The charger they were using to charge the battery was causing the entire house to pulsate. FD was involved, traced it back to a floating neutral in the main box?? I'm no electrician, so I don't know the exact deal, but it cost her a lot of electronics.

Sounds like the water is your problem... get that sorted out then do a through cleaning of that stove... it's certainly plugged with ash and not operating up to snuff.
