After many long nights of reserch "about a year" and decided on the effecta "woody lambda 35kw"
there were many issues with other brands "smoking, bridging, constant tweaking"
As I have to work full time, I do not have the time to constantly tweak the boiler for maxium efficancy, I am very happy with the Effecta, as I can load and leave. Being a negative pressure setup, there is minimal smoke when you open the door, The oxygen sensor is what allows me to load and leave, this keeps around a set percent of co2 and automatically adjusts the top and bottom dampers depending on type of wood, Moisture content of wood etc. I have been dealing with Brian @ Up North Energey and he has been great, helping out where ever needed, " tying into my existing gas boiler, and dhw".

I am new at the gasification boiler setup, and i am very happy with the way thing are working.

Brian is great to deal with, he helped me get a thermostat for my Laddomat when there wasn't a one in the USA. It's good to hear about the Effecta Lambda working well, keep us informed, Randy PS, How long does it take to charge those 2 pressure tanks say from 140 to 190? You also might want to get some insulation on that copper tubing.

Because I'm new to this, temperatures have been in the low teens and colder, I'm pushing 5000 SF. I would say one full burn. I'm still getting use to it. I will put more pics on later I've been feeding this house with gas, pellets and a wood stove at the same time for so long, it's quite a change!

Yes, I forgot the draw off the boiler at the time the tanks were/are charging. Glad it's working well for you, Randy

Are those expansion tanks for well water? Just curious because I have yet to decide exactly which route I want to go, or should I say expense.

Could you tell me how high the tank set up is, floor to highest piping?

thanks

gg

Great to hear from another effecta lambda boiler user.

I have over 425 hours on my effecta lambda (and at an average of 5 hours/burn/day that's 85 days of operation) and everything is working great.

The last 2 weeks in northern Michigan the temps have not been above 16F and they've down as low as -17F and our 30,000 sq. ft house has been a nice, toasty 72F and our DHW has also been nice and hot.

These effecta lambda boilers are very user friendly and my wife is now starting the fire when I'm not home to do so.

Sorry about he previous post. Our house is 3,000 sq. ft, not 30,000 sq. ft.

Made me do a double take. Than I saw your sig.

How long have these brand of boilers been sold in the US? And how do they compare, dollar wise, to other models?

These boilers are new to the US but effecta has been making them since the early 80's and has a huge market share in Sweden (approx. 40%) with its wood/pellet boilers and hot water solar. Check out their website at www.effecta.us and you will see a very professional company (one of the best boiler manufacture websites I have seen thus far). Their logo in Sweden is "Experts in Heating" and their website shows this.

As far as price, I'm not sure what the Viags Lambda boiler sells for but the effecta 35kw model is substantially less than the Froling 20/30 ($1,500-$2,000 less).

With regards to the Lamda system boilers I am only aware of the Froling, Vigas and effecta. Please let me know if there are any others.

Thanks,

EBU

Any vents or air separators on the supply lines coming off your boiler? Is that an air scoop on the ground on your return?

They are water pressure tanks, they never get hot, I will check the overall height of the tanks from floor to top,
yes there is an air separator from the tanks to the boiler on the supply line. " not sure about the air scoop" where were you looking?

Very nice, but I don't like that copper pipe along the floor. I'd end up breaking that thing in a week.. LOL

I just assumed you were celebrity!

from floor to the top of the tank is 95"
below are a few more pics of the install

The one of the insulated tanks is super tuff R
this has a higher heat rating than blue board

the two tanks are bolted together, they were put in the room
seperatly, the top tank lifted and then the bottom tank slid under
and then bolted together again

So what happens if your power goes out in the middle of a burn? Is there a backup system built-in to the stove? Did you have to design your own? How long can you go with no power?
Thanks
Doug

I will have to design my own. I can use any ideas out there. 12 volt batteries with converter maybe?

Bill.

A large 12V battery with a Euro inverter, these are 12V DC to 220 volt AC 50 HZ. Make sure you buy the true sine inverter. These are available off Ebay & you will find some with a Google search, Randy
