I'm looking for a simple, black face probe thermometer to measure the flue gases - on double wall pipe. The problem is that all the ones I find are orange and red. I did however come across some catalytic thermometers that look pretty snazzy. Will they work? I have no experience with a cat stove so I'm in the dark on this one.

I just bought this flue probe and kind a like the black face with the silver good burn zone. Better visibility than my color coded Condar probe.

That's nice looking. I searched and searched online and didn't come up with anything that wasn't color coded. This is a good option. ....I am still curious if I could use a cat thermometer.
