One year in Afghanistan, my pile is a year behind from where I want to be. BUT I am heading home soon, which means if you are in the NOVA area you will have stiff competition for finding wood! I tried to post a craigslist ad for folks to dump with the recent storm, but apparently CL is doing a good job of screening overseas posts. They blocked my post, assuming it was a scam. Can't blame them.

But...in a month, I will be back home after a year overseas and looking for means to bolster the pile. I am sure it will work out...because things usually do.

I want to thank everyone for their posts...its a great way to escape the day over here by reading about what I love...burning wood and splitting wood.

I am not sure who is more excited about me coming home...me or my better half who has been feeding two stoves like a champ.

No worries, there is plenty of wood for all in the DC area. I'd say I see more ads in NoVa than anywhere. Welcome back.

Wish you where closer..All the hedge and locust you can haul!

Yeah, If you were closer I could give you a head start on next year's wood.

Good luck and come home safe! Cheers!

Thank you for your service! Drop a line how things are going. Afg all wrapped up now?

Be safe. Remember when the freedom bird's wheels go up, no cheering allowed. ;p Welcome home. Thanks for your service. It is great access to the internet is available to those serving overseas.

Well Done. Get back safe.

Good luck, and early welcome home and Thank you for your service.

You're getting lots of "thank yous" and "welcome homes"....and you deserve'em!!!!

Take care, be safe, and when your feet finally hit good ol' USofA ground...don't forget to relax and exhale.

Oh...and thank you for your service and welcome home. (ya didn't think I'd forget that, now did ya!! ;-)

God bless the USA!!!

Thank you and your comrades for your service! If youd like for some one here to post an ad on craigslist for you Im sure some one can help you out!

You say you are a year behind where you want to be. Does that mean you have some wood stacked already?

Woodduck - I do. I was able to get ahead by two years when I left. Maybe 2.5, but probably closer to two. So, that means I have a years worth already c/s/s. Of course I would rather be a solid three years ahead. My stack is under trees, and that means oak takes three years for me. Two if is standing dead. Last year I had tried some two year...and it hissed. She is using three year oak this year which has cut the wood use down a lot. My plan is to get some poplar and pine which will stretch the pile there, which means I will get probably close to two years seasoning if I get some c/s/s as soon as i get home. Whatever I get this year, I will split it smaller than usual and stack it s little looser.

Remmy - thanks for the offer. I can have the wife post which is what we are going to do. But I do appreciate the offer.

thanks for your service. PM me when you get home if you are interested in some pine or poplar in Montgomery County MD. I'll hook u up.

Thanks PB. I may be in touch. Hopefully a tree service will want a dump site for awful creosote filled pine!

Get home safely. And thank for your sacrifice.

Congrats man! Lots of gas log burnin' yuppies up in NOVA (I'm from Roanoke) so you shouldn't have too much competition:)
