Anyone every hear of or use Warm Front Pellets?

Also, looking for info on pellet corn mixes? This distributor near me offers pre-mixed wood pellets (Warm Front pellets) and corn at ratios of 20%, 35%, 50% and 80%. Looking for advice on if use of corn blend is recommended what the benefits/drawbacks are.

Thanks.

they used to be made by New England Pellets, i used them 2 years ago, for me they were middle of the road pellets.

just what geek said....... you would be better off going to home depot to get there middle of the road pellets . my buddy bought a ton in west springfield ma home depot for 187.00 they let him use there truck for free . even the gas was free

I burned 2 tons of warm front in 2 different stoves, I think they are a better pellet than stove chow. more heat, less ash. The price would be the determining factor for me.

as for corn mix...
I think you would need a multi fuel stove and I know you would want corn rated venting.

Thanks.. prices right now are $209 at Home Depot for Fireside Ultra or $233 for Warm Front pellets or a mix of Warm Front and Corn (any % of corn you choose). Enviro M55 cast insert multi fuel.. says it is will burn corn, wheat, barley, grass and bark pellets in the manual. Not sure at the price if I am better just sticking with straight wood pellets. Also can at a local feed store Okanagan or Barefoot for $275 a ton and Dry Creak for $289 a ton.. but that seems pretty expensive.

I did pick some up from HD and they let me use their truck for free.. was just interested in getting a read if I will get better performance/heat from a corn mix then straight wood pellets

Warm Fronts were middle of the road and on the low end. A shoulder season pellet in my case due to low heat output. But a good pellet to mix with corn. 60/40 pellets/corn was a nice mix in my Omega. I burned it on the standard setting with the feed trim bumped down to 2 and a bit more air. I would say your combustion trim at 4 should do. I got great heat from the blend. And the burn seemed longer as corn burns a bit slower than a wood pellet does. Burning anything more than 50/50 pellets/corn mix required the multifuel mode to be used.

You can burn straight corn in multifuel mode with the M55. I would keep the feed trim down some say 2 or 3 and the combustion trim on default. Be aware the multifuel mode has a clean up cycle in it. Your stove will go to low fire every 30 minutes even if the stat isn't made. Helps finish burning the corn and cleans the burnpot of the corn clinker you hear about. Burns for 5 minutes on low and takes 2 minutes per heat setting advance to get back to full fire.

There are several stoves that will burn 50/50 pellet/corn mix and some that will burn 100% after you light it with pellets out there. But the clinker is hard to get around with straight corn.

Depending on whats available locally, There are several other fuels to keep an eye on. One is cherry pits. But they burn fast and hot. Another is grass pellets. Lots of ash but burnable. Other grains if you can find them cheap enough. Have heard of Bamboo and even peat moss pellets, Just haven't tried them yet. But I will when I locate them. Cheap wood pellets has made the multifuels get a back seat for a bit. But you can bet they will be looked at hard if the wood pellet prices skyrocket again! A great reason to own the multifuel stove besides being able to burn ANY pellet with ease!

Hello

Interesting, Travis updated the Avalon Astoria I own a few years back with a multi-fuel burn pot and now boast they can do a 50/50 corn mix. However I am sure J is right on the 60/40 mix from his experience. I have not seen those pellets in sNH yet.

What is the price per bag of the Warm Front pellets??

The NEWP dealer in my town says the Warm Front are exactly the same pellet as NEWP. He claims he visited the plant and they just change the roll of bags from NEWP to Warm Front and the same exact product fills the different bag. He says the reason for the different bag is if two or more dealers in the same sales region want NEWP then the leading dealer gets NEWP and the others get Warm Front. He says there is a third brand/bag also with NEWP in the bag.

That is absolutely correct. NEWP and WF are the exact same pellet.

They sell the warm fronts here in my area at local Price Choppers and Sunoco stations, $5.99/bag I think was the price. Haven't ever used them though...

I concur that they are a middle of the road pellet that I'd be happy with for about $150 per ton on clearance somewhere. They're $219 a ton here in NEPA at a local dealer and $220 down from $250 at our Price Chopper. Not dusty, ok heat but nothing special.

Don't quote me on this but I think the third is cleanfire bagged for woodpellets.com. On a side note we have had some NEWP from NY plant and holy smoke they are hot pellets. The temps out the heat exchanger are the same as the cubex ash is lower also. They were manufactured just last week.

Any idea if they are from the Schuyler plant, or the Deposit plant (is it up & running?)?

Sorry I forget about Deposit. I don't know if that is running or not. We are going to Schuyler Monday I will have my father ask about a Deposit update. The pellets I have at the moment are from Schuyler. We go and pick them up direct and have been trying each lot number when we get them home. The past month the pellets have been on par with the cubex and at time beating them in heat.

I thought so too, But I saw a video of Hassell & Hughes on youtube. They seem to be bagging the Cleanfires.

I think they have more than one place bag them. I know they have rolls of the bags at NEWP that they fill at times.

That might explain some of the mixed reviews. I have heard some people that absolutely love them and some that have had nothing but trouble with them.

Mixed brands in the same bag may have some draw backs and mixed reviews is just one.

I have an update on the Deposit plant. One thing that is great is a huge amount of indoor storage for pellets that will be made there. The plant should be open some time soon is what I was told.
