Although I love burning wood, I got to say I'm looking forward to spring. By the time my current ready pile located on the deck is diminished, I'll be on a plane to sunny Aruba for a two week break starting March 4th. By the looks of the storage pile in the back yard, I've gone through about 2-2 1/2 cords this year. I have at least a 3 year supply already stacked and seasoned, and plenty more of big oaks to work on this year. (Still from the ice storm of 2008) Before the big snow storms, I've been selling some of it, 48 cu ft for $120, that's what my F-150 holds.

Enjoy he vacation Jim. Good for you for getting that wood on hand now. If everyone had a 3 year supply ready, we'd see a lot less posts because there would be a lot less problems when people have good dry wood to burn.

Thanks Dennis-I hope your feeling a little better everyday.

Thanks Jim. Yes, a little better every day. I even walked to the mailbox and back today; using crutches, of course. That is not so bad considering it is 100 yards to the mailbox.

Short bed or long? I have an F150 short bed. I was curious what it would hold. So, you're getting roughly $350 a cord. You're doing well with what I assume is good dry wood, since you're one of us!

Kenster: It's a short bed, step side Lariat.(1999) I advertised on Craig's list to start. One customer asked for another load after my delivery. I told him I would be back in an hour. It's mostly people who have a fireplace and burn for the ambiance, not to heat their house. It is alot of work but I enjoy it. I load it and unload all by hand, I'll stop at Dunkin' , grab a coffee for the ride and i'll have a smile. Hope all is well in Texas. I love this website, I've learned alot from the good people here. Jim

Dennis: I meet people at our timeshare every year that are from Michigan. Good people just like you. I'm looking so forward to some down time. We all have issues going on in our lives, it's refreshing to log onto a website like this and communicated with some really nice folks.

Looks like we are about at the end of wood stove season. Enjoyed a really nice fire tonight. Next few days are in the 50s and lows in the mid 30s. Probably a good thing that warm weather is coming, as I don't have that much firewood left for this year. Do have a good stock for next year laid by. Started looking at seed catalogs tonight. I order some seeds from Gurney (my Midwest heritage), but like Fedco seeds a lot (http://www.fedcoseeds.com/). Fedco has a very wide variety of interesting crops.

Thanks Jim. Maybe I'm lucky but it seems that no matter where I go I've always met up with some great people.

I sure can agree that it is nice to be able to log on here and be amongst friends. Besides where else would we talk about wood burning and cutting and splitting?

Good to hear you're on the mend Dennis.

Love Winter but it's really nice to take a break from the cold and snow and black and white landscape for a place where you can wear shorts, T-shirt, swim in the ocean (heck this is something that I don't usually do here in the Summer in Maine) and just not worry about running the woodstove. Have a good vacation Jim!
