Not sure if Simpson is compatible, but if it is, I'm pretty sure their wall thimble makes it so you only have to penetrate the inside wall 2". Maybe their thimble is something to look at. Mods?

Unfortunately different brands don't usually match up. Regardless, the rules are the same.

Looking at the instructions, here. Says the wall thimble must penetrate the inside wall 2" and the class A must be flush against the inside of the thimble.

Page 20 notes that the class a Pipe is to extend 2" into the living space. The Class A is then joined with the interior portion of the wall thimble part SDP-WT. Once joined, I assume the chimney system extends a full 6" into the room.

The critical issue is how the connector pipe (stove to class a) will be joined. Even Double Wall Stove Pipe requires a minimum of 6" to combustibles.

Doesn't exactly join the thimble... just buts up against it. The thimble can only extend a max of 4" into the living space, after that, you connect your dvl VIA the dvl/thimble connector.

The link is for DuraPlus, triple wall pipe, not the more commonly used DuraVent class A pipe which has the same requirements as the OP's MetalFab pipe.

I guess I thought duraplus triple wall was class "a". Lesson learned. Glad we clarified that.

You're correct, it is. Class A comes in a variety of flavors. DuraTech and DuraPlus are both UL 103 listed pipes.

So, is the duraplus just a little more forgiving then other class A pipes? Why only the 2" penetration?

Great question. I would assume it is based on their tested results, but it would be worth giving them a call to find out. Let us know what they say.

All 6", 7", and 8" Temp/Guard product has been Temp/Guard Max (1.5" CTC) since mid-2004. So unless you are using very old used pipe your clearances should be 1.5".
The part in your original post is not a Metal-Fab part (I don't know who made it) and, therefore, can't be used if you want a UL Listed installation. You need a wall firestop (TGWFSP) and a single wall adapter (TGPSWA) or if you want it unpainted it would be a TGSWA. Where are you located?
