since is warm today i knew this would be the day to clean the stove and do the leaf blower trick...

I went outside, 3 feet of now around the back, using the big ash vac, connected everything.....but plugged the ash vac hose to the opposite side....meaning i was blowing INTO the stove and not sucking out of it....!!!

I had left the stove door open, so you can imagine, everything around the stove is just ash.......sigh...

Wife opens patio door and says "what happened, everything here is black and full of smoke".

I went inside and oh man.....what a mess...!!!

Later on she says "pellet stove is just too much, look at the mess outside too, siding black, pipe dirty with ash/water, not nice, stop using it...!!!!!"

Uh Oh, geek you can stay on my sofa tonight. Might be a little warmer than the dog house. Well if you bring some beer anyway! :) Very brave of you to admit this to the group of hecklers we have here. Sh!+ happens to us all.

I know what your doing this weekend! :cheese:

look at the pic attached, it is a MESS...!!!!

Yep, it's a mess. Glad it is you and not me, I'd have been tossed out into the woods.

Another reason not to use anything other than a leaf blower/vacuum.

It likely would prevent things like that.

just another view.......my daughter has visitors from high school and we're all just laughing here, i told them i am posting this topic and pics here and they say i am OBSESSED with pellet stoves....hahahaha....

My wife says I'm addicted to this site like its porn...................now its dirty porn :bug:

Geek,

The good news is that judging by the ash (on your floor) your stove is burning well.

:bug:

It is moments like these that I realize it is good I live alone. Just the dog and on weekends, my 7 yr old son

---Nailer---

you guys cannot imagine how much of a mess....!!!

I started using a mop and man, ash is ALL OVER the hard floor in the living room, furniture must be also full of it but i cannot see it.....WOW...!!!!

Exactly, why didn't you have it closed?

Not only that, I always have my wife standing right next to the stove when I do that!

a while ago i heard someone saying not to leave the door closed because the seals suffer from the suction, or something like that, it is just a lesson learned.

Only kidding about the wife standing by!

Geek, you are one brave SOB to admit that AND even braver to go back in the house. Find every pair of scissors in the house and hide them, then sleep on your stomach with your legs crossed in a locked room somewhere. You, my son, are dead meat!

Oh man that sucks bad. I've never had the need to use
a leaf blower on my stove and considering next year will
be year #7 with it, I won't ever need to. Good luck
cleaning it up. Tell wifey to chill. Shyte happens and
the pellet stove IS a good thing.

Did that with a wood stove ten years ago. As usual I sat the shop vac on the deck outside the door and then came in with the long hose to do the firebox before pulling the insert to sweep the chimney. Had my head stuck in that big ole stove vacuuming away. Pulled back out to a family room and kitchen with two foot viability. An old dead chunk of wood coal had nuked the paper bag in the vac and the exhaust had turned right toward the door.

Nope, wife was not happy. Took forever to clean those two rooms and found gray dust for two years.

Geek your quite a man to admit you made a mistake. We have all done something like this, but few if any are willing to admit.

Oh Geek!!

I have to say, Me thinks you are in some Deep Doo-Doo!

Bet you go buy a leaf blower! One WITH a Vaccum!!

Geek you are not a lone, but my mess wasnot that bad. last yr my step-son took the filter off of the shop vac and here i come in to vac out the stove, all i heard was DAD!!!! from my 5yr old. like everyone has said sh$$ happens.

The only way I would be able "dig" my self out of a situation like that would be to get a cleaning service in, send roses and a night out to dinner and a show. That will make it "profitable" for your wife and she will be forgiving you and waiting for the next time you mess up.

Geek,
Most people would of posted"Look what a friend of mine had happen" :):)
If you have a birthday coming up maybe you should ask for a label/sticker machine:)
The older we get the better chance you have of forgetting simple things. That orange cleaner works wonders
on soot.Atleast thats what a friend of mine told me. :)

Good luck with Momma

only a geek would do that ...lol looks like i know what you will be doing this weekend . could be worse a long as everyone is safe all is good
