On Friday we finally got the box elder load from a couple weekends ago split and stacked. To my surprise the ole' lady came out and said she wanted to help out for a couple hours. Great! In less than 5 minutes I had the splitter set up to split vertically and right next to the trailer ramp. She could roll the rounds right off the trailer and split them and I could wheel barrow the splits and stack them. Saved me half the time! So of course I can't have an empty trailer sitting around. Saturday morning I went and picked up a full trailer load of willow rounds that was only 15 miles from home. Saturday afternoon I split it all with the hydraulic, still have to stack it. Saturday night I get a call from a lady where I had left a message about some mulberry that is already cut into rounds. She said I could come and pick this up anytime, the sooner the better. I said how about Sunday morning, so I'm heading off in a few minutes to pick that up. The mulberry should be my finest score yet!

Here are some action shots of the wife helping - she is a great hard worker, our kids - that we can't get away from the heat of the stove, and the willow before I split it.

Agreed!

I had to postpone picking up the mulberry this morning, darn snowstorm. I'll get it tomorrow after work, thank goodness the people giving it away are okay with that...

That's a great shelter, looks like it is right on the property line? Interesting way to add on to the garage without having to deal with setbacks.

The shelter is a Costco special. They are 10x20, and I ran two of them back to back, so I have somewhere to park the trailer as well as a place to toss the splits after I unload the trailer. They are set bolted into the concrete with Red Caps. These shelters have been through some crazy wind storms over the past year and a half, gusts over 60 mph, and they handle great! I have concrete right to the property line and then the fence. The lot is narrow and long, 0.19 of an acre, so I have 10' on this side of the home and 8 feet on the other side. Definitely have to be creative when maximizing your usage when the property is small!

Nice trailer, splitter and shelter. Nice set up.

Very nice elijah. It makes it super sweet when the wife can help out. Now you just need to get her a nice milk crate to sit on when she is splitting! :)
