I'm out of oil and will not buy more at the current price, so the stove is king! It's no problem when I'm home but I'm gone 10+ hours a day. I switched off the furnace about two weeks ago as it's been unseasonable warm. Fingers crossed we stay above thirty weekdays.

Methinks I see a bigger stove coming.

Yeah. This time of year I burn loads about the size of what you can stuff in the 13. The mass holds the heat longer than the 13 will burning down and coals are still waiting in the morning. Ya just have to resist the temptation to stuff it full for the night or all day burns.

That fireplace of yours will hold heat and give it off slowly even better than mine does. This time of year I fire it in the morning and then before going to bed. God bless Super Cedars.

yeah i know for sure next yr will be painfully worse i will not be surprised when it hits over 4.00 a gal! we are for sure moving out of this house before next winter... this was my biggest mistake by renting this house with fuel oil..

Folks, given what's known about supply and demand, the long-term price of petroleum products is going up (you can bank on it). Either make more money or become more fuel efficient.

Why not, winter is almost over. But it's doubtful oil will get less expensive while the anti-drilling intellectual cliche rules over us.

Stay warm Kathleen!

I'm sure purchased firewood will be going up as well.

+1 I think as the other fuels go up, the wwod dealers will relize that they to can raise their prices.... I guess we will see.

Yeah, I agree, you'll see firewood prices climbing, too. If nothing else, the diesel to deliver will force the price up. But it's still better than running fuel oil. I shut my furnace off last fall and have been living on wood heat with no problems this whole winter. It's not the tightest house, and the room where I spend more of my time rarely climbs out of the mid-60ºF's, but it's probably healthier for me, anyway. And anytime I want to get warm I just go to the kitchen where the stove is (and the dogs are, flaked out in front of it :) ) . It's worked out great. Kathleen, you'll do fine! :)
