Hello All.

Im pretty sure Im jumping the gun here, since I havent even done a heat calc yet for my house, and Im not sure what type of boiler or storage setup Ill end up with, but I figured I would ask anyway because my brain just keeps churning.

Is the STSS controller anything that is worthwhile? I know that NoFossil has a control system that can do many awesome things. Im essentially looking for something that would allow me to determine when/if my oil boiler comes on if for some reason the temps in my house drop too low and there isnt fire in the boiler or storage in the tank.

The reason I ask about this particular controller is that I see that one of the vendors that advertises here (Not sure if its OK to throw names out, but they have a banner ad that pops us) has the STSS EMC controller on a sale right now for about 1/3rd of what its listed for. For $100 I dont know if it makes sense to pick one up now and then use it when I figure out the rest of my system. In looking on the web, they only show one diagram that utilizes a few pumps and zone valves, and I think that I would use all circ pumps instead of the valves when I finally get things figured out.

I did some searches here, but not a whole lot has been said one way or another.

Any thoughts?

That is a good deal. I am not familiar with the unit, hopefully some one here will chime in on how they like it.

I agree, I thought it was a good deal as well. I just dont want to spend that money on something that wont be useful for me in the future. I know something like the NFCS would replace that (or Im assuming it would), but I dont know if Im ready to step up to that level for my system.

Anyone here at all used it?
