Hey guys... I have searched the boards and did not find the answer to my question, so here goes... we are moving to a new house, our current home had an approved prefab fireplace, so we installed a Z/C approved Buck model 74 with full flue liner about 5 years ago and have loved it... here is my question the Buck is definitely coming with me and getting installed in the masonry fireplace in the new house... I have had the new fireplace (which has an 8" clay tile liner) fully inspected and checked... since it is an 8" tile liner, I am going to install a full stainless liner in the whole thing... My question is this, can I pull out and reuse the liner that is in my current install, or do I need to get a new one??? Its getting pulled out regardless to make the fireplace operational again...

Is this a flex or rigid liner. If rigid it should be fine. If flex, and the liner is in great condition - after it is pulled, then I don't see why it couldn't be reused. But if it is torn, badly abraded or any pinhole leaks, replace it.

The liner in your prefab is probably a Class A liner that is 8" ID and 10" or 12" OD, so that's not going to fit your new 8" tile liner. In fact a stainless steel flexible liner will be approximately 8.25" OD and may not even fit the 8" tile liner either. Your new flue may also have an offset, which may not allow your rigid prefab liner fit either.

Hey guys, thanks for the quick replies... My current liner is a stainless 6" flex... I figured there would be no issues in reusing it as long as it is intact... I'll see in a week or so when I pull it out ;-)...
