Right in my backyard and I'm too broke to buy it....

Looks pretty beat up. $750 seems a bit high. Not sure what list it on that thing though. No ignitor on it. Wonder the mfg date on it is?

It does have an ignitor... sez self starting...

How beat up can a pellet stove get? The dirt will wash off....

No ignition, self-lighting

I assumed by "self" he meant, yourself. As in, the user. Definitely not a good choice of words and confusing.

Flue exits look rusty.

If someone can't even clean something up a little for pictures, I would guess it was not maintained very well. Just my opinion though.

Must be an old model also, does not look like the current model at all http://www.stcroixstoves.com/p-aftonbay.php

As far as I know all Afton Bays have an ignitor... wouldn't matter to me anyway... my ignitor died this fall and I wasn't put out much using a little starter gell.

I like projects... there's nothing on that stove that can't be cleaned or repaired. A new stove is about $2300.00... I just need one for my shop so I'd never buy new.

Not really familar with St. Criox stoves. But it appears there is nothing to protect the heat exchanger from the flames. Dont know if that would warp them? Every model I have seen has a baffle on them. Someone school me on this. Do you get more heat? Were they removed? Do St. Criox's use a different alloy?

But that is a GREAT deal. Oops forgot to put that in last post. Sorry

I think the plate is MIA....

Looks a little rough to me, but if it works and doesnt have major problems it would be an ideal project stove. Tear it all down brush it off and hit it with a nice coat of stove paint, and she would look like a new one. Needs a baffle plate too. Overall I'd say it's a deal if it runs well... Probably could restore it over a weekend..

I've been looking for a used St. Croix for a year now...but I dumped over 5K in my Peterbilt in the last three weeks... no spare change laying round.

Krooser, maybe they'll take your mother-in-law in on a trade for the stove. :cheese:

She's in Florida with my bride... I can feel them conspiring against me as we speak...

That doesn't look anything like my Afton Bay - see my Avatar. Are we sure it's even a St Croix?

If that's a 4 inch ~20+ foot stainless steel exhaust vent - its worth 3 to 400$ alone. That is, assuming it is in good shape and meets your install needs.

A real pellet pig would make that trade ... mother law for used stove.
With a ton of pellets to be named later.
