When I got up this morning it felt a bit cool in here, so instead of burning down the coals I just added 3 splits. Dang, I had to take my shirt off so I looked at the temperature gauge and it is 660. Well, it did not get as cold as they predicted so with that wood and the big coal bed the stove took right off and the house warmed up fast. No, I am not going to open any windows.

Hey, I just saw a deer go through and could hardly believe how small it is. I had not seen this deer for quite some time and thought the coyotes may have eaten it but it has survived! Yet, this month is perhaps the most critical month for the deer. They still look pretty good but they are definitely hungry. Hopefully we'll lose the snow before too long and that will help them.

Yesterday we had 3 deer bed not far from the house around 9:00 am and they stayed until around 3:00 pm. Nice. They even stayed bedded when my wife was out filling bird feeders.

-4 here, not worried about overheating the place.

We expected that but only got down to 5 here.

About 0 last night. 18 today and about 0 tonight as well. But....2 days of low 40's for high and mid-30's for lows with rain coming up - going to get nasty. Cheers!

When I left work yesterday at 4:30pm EST, it was 66f here. :D

Thank goodness, I'm out of any semblance of truly seasoned wood.

Colder there than here. 20s day time, teens at night, but still have the 45+ mph winds.
70+ mph last night.
Snow gone somewhere? lots drifted in backside of the house.

I am so jealous of you guys, its been two weeks since I installed my Fireview and I can't even have a break in fire >:-( . Been close to 80 during the day and 60 at night. Hoping for one more cool spell before the end of the season. Although I do just enjoy sitting there looking at her. :wow:

That's a lot of stove for Florida! Heck that stove heats homes where it never goes above 20 degrees for weeks on end.. At least it will look pretty with flowers on it :)

She sure is pretty! I burned every night save 4 from Nov on, have not burned (or cooled) for 2 weeks now. February electric usage 477 kwh. Everything is blooming here. You will have to open windows & doors & move outside to break that girl in before next fall.

That would be setting a record for today out here. Pretty close to the coldest we've seen out here period.

Randy, do you have an extra bedroom so we might visit for a few days?! Dang, I'd love to have those temperatures and I congratulate you. No, I won't be driving or flying to Florida. Holy cow, it still hurts the hip and leg to drive 5 or 10 miles! But it is getting better.

Even if you have to wait until fall or next winter for your break-in fire, it will still be worth it, but I do hope you get to try it out this spring.

 Ray, in the future I'll attempt to make sure I point out that was the stove top temperature and not the house temperature. I can also assure you that my name is not Shadrach, Meshah or Abednego.

Well, those flowers and green grass will just have to suffer for a while! lol

btw, we got through the night with none of the freezing rain that was forecast. It really does not look that bad for today although the forecast makes it sound a bit slippery. We still have to get through tonight and tomorrow before this system is out of here. Hopefully we might warm up a bit then. I'd surely like to see a 50 degree day or two. 60 would sound even better. But then, I guess we could all fly to Florida.
