Instead of a timer I think someone already mentioned using the thermos in the WH. IIRC you had some low temp thermos but you could put in 1 high temp one and just use that to control the circ. pump. Then you would always have hot water. A disc type snap switch would work if the temp differential wasn't so high, most are usually 20 or 40 degree diff. between open and close.
