Buckeye wood products

They delivered us 12 bags to test burn a couple of weeks ago to get our opinion. The pellets were a little long and i dont think they were dried down enough. Pellets were a little flexible. They didnt burn bad . They just reciently got the mill online so they are tweaking things. I am glad they want to get pellets into the hands of service people to let us give our .02$. I am in the swimming pool service business and take care of the pool for the owner of the mill. Then I work for a stove dealer in the winter months servicing stoves mostly Harman some St. Croix and some whittfield. The company sells and recycles wood pallets, makes mulch and now they invested the $1M to produce pelets. I cant remember the name brand of the pellets. When I am at the shop I will look. Should cut down on cost if we can get pellet that are only 7 miles from the shop.

Post a picture of a bag if you can, So we can keep an eye out for them. Nice they wanted some feed back before they started production. Should be a good sign they want to product a good product.

They were supposed to send us a nother batch after tweaking and playing with the formula. They want to buy possibly 3 PF-100 furnaces from us for there homes, shop ect. We have to do a sight visit to on of there homes this week. Supposedly they are going to sell to stove shops that help them from the beginning. We will see how that goes.......

I hit the site and filled out the dealer locator. I'll post what they send for a reply.

Nice looking site, Could use a bit more details on there product though!

They are still a work in progress. They are not even selling fuel yet, and i dont think they have any established dealers yet. Last I heard they were getting all there equiptment in place and setting things up to get bugs worked out to have things up and at full production for next season. By the time they get everything ready the heating season will be over, here in OH anyway. I am sure they will not have any trouble selling all they can make, trucking plays a big part in cost to consumer. Hopefully they are a good burning pellet. This is there main line of work now http://www.buckeyediamond.com/

He was there reply,

Jay,

We are based in Ohio, so it probably doesn’t make sense to try our product; however, we are happy to help if need be.

They have all summer to work out the kinks and bugs. But they sound like they need to learn a little marketing things as well. Lots of pellets in New England come from farther away than Ohio. Good luck to them!

Sorry, we dont have any dealers in your area yet. Please check back. That sounds like a better response??

Hmmmmm......I'm curious as to the source of the fiber for the pellets. I seem to remember another pellet company that used old ground-up pallets for fiber......those didn't turn out too good. :ahhh:

On the website it said they use cutoffs and scrap or something like that. I knew they recycle pallets and assumed that is what they were using for pellets. Maybe not. We'll see.......

I received a very nice and prompt reply to my dealer inquiry from Billy Hoskins at Easy Heat Wood Pellets (www.easyheatpellets.com) in S. Charleston. He invited me to tour the plant. I hope to do that sometime in February. I like the idea of buying from local manufacturer.

Just got 15 bags of these pellets, just put the first bag in the hopper. I have been burning Somerset all season, which I have been really happy with. A couple of things I have noticed right off, they smell like fresh saw dust, the fines in the bag are no more than the Somersets, the pellet themselves are easily to broken with your fingers, they do not seem to be compressed as well as the Somerset pellet.

If you guys still would like a picture of the bag, I will take a picture and post it here for you.

I will also let you guys know how they burn ove the next couple of days.

They dropped off some bags here. Test burn was not bad. I had no "flex" in the pellets but they were short and very dry. More heat out of ProPellet on the IR gun.

Eric

So far pretty decent heat, glass on the stove is getting a little dirtier faster, going to tweak the stove a little tonight but so far I think pellets are not bad at all. There does seem to be more fly ash than the Somerset.

They have been tweaking. First pellets were not compressed enough. Now they are hard and dry and seem to burn well.
