Well my 15.00 dollar find has turned into a 55.00 saw that runs like a champ. Put an electronic flywheel and coil on it and took the points, condensor, flywheel and ignition off. Picked up the electronic flywheel and ignition for 40.00 dollars. Great deal on a great running 028!!

I like the 044/460 the best. 880 its really a 2 man saw, and one good chain grinder person.

I bought my O28 new in 1985.This saw has been through the ringer and been under water.Reliable as high gas prices and taxes but it is the most reliable saw I own, Ken

These were made when Stihl only sold the very best they could produce. This is one heck of a saw, Randy

Iv'e got an 028 SUPER that I bought new in 1980 and have used ever since. I cut firewood for my wood furnace, about 6-7 cords per year. I still use it exclusively and love it!

Started out with an 028 . . . great saw . . . couldn't kill the saw . . . and trust me Dad had about everything happen to that saw . . . including running it over and even had a foster kid fill the gas tank with fiberglass resin (he did have to change out the tank though.)

lol Never heard of that one before. Sounds like it had some time to set-up?

Yup . . . although if memory serves me right (and it doesn't always serve me right) it only partially hardened . . . most of it was just a goopy resin/gas mix.
