Well, yesterday turned out to be a terrible day even if it started out great. I've been going more and more without using cane nor crutch and have been outside working, but mainly in the barns. I was waiting for a carpenter to show up yesterday around mid day and decided to take down a tarp that we hang every winter by the porch. We hang it there because that is where we keep some wood and like to keep the snow off. Anyway, even climbing the step ladder all went very well. I finished and took the ladder back to the barn and then got hold of the tarp to pull it out to where it would get some sunshine to dry the part that was wet.

Then is when it happened. I was pulling the tarp as I was walking forward...and then when my left foot hit the ground one time, there was ice and I slipped. To say it hurt would be an understatement. Well, I had this guy coming any moment so had the wife get my crutches and I toughed it out with the help of some pain meds. After he left I spent the rest of the day at the computer.

Pretty sore yet this morning but I think the back is worse than the hip or leg. More pain meds today it appears as I have some things to do. For example, I intended to go to the Board of Review yesterday afternoon but couldn't. Today is the last day so I have to go this afternoon or tonight. I have someone coming at 2:00 so we'll see.

btw, I also had got on the bike (on the trainer) early yesterday and that was pain free!

So, our plans on cutting that dead elm today is going to have to take a back seat. Same with cutting that pin oak. Some day, we hope to be ice free around here.... Hopefully by the weekend that will be the case.

You need a little 880 trigger time that always helps! lol We are ice free here but very wet.

No thanks Jay. I wrestled the big saws plenty enough. Now I will stick to the small saws trying to save what little I have of a working back.

I saw that there is rain south of us this morning. They say we have a slight chance today but a better chance tonight. Whatever it takes to rid this place of ice will be appreciated.

Not so hard.. Really just a trigger pull if you got two people. Lol......Speedy recovery to You and your Family!

Sav, feel better brother. I know your biting at the bit to work. Its always the little things that get us when we are hurt already. Not that slipping on ice is a little thing.

Backwoods you got to take it a little easy to give yourself time to heal. Been there and tired to hurry the process and just made the recovery longer. Take it easy for a while trust me everything will still be there when your healed. Take care and my thoughts and prayers are with you for a quick and positive recovery!

Slow and easy wins the race . . . note that I didn't say just sit there on your keister and don't do a thing . . . just be smart, listen to the docs and listen to your body and don't rush things.

"HELP! I'VE FALLEN AND CAN'T GET UP!!!"
just thought that if you don't take it easy, you can practice that line and sign up to do commercials for them!!!
we would much rather see you at the computer, than hearing about how you recovery has transgressed. TAKE IT EASY!"
i'll bet mrs. ornery had some advice for you! by the way, have you found that saw that was "misplaced"??? if you have, i'll bet that it goes missing again, after this last tumble!
anyway, glad to hear the bike results were good.
take care, good brother

Sorry to hear that Dennis! Chalk it up to experience get some rest then tackle things when you're really ready.. Wish I was nearby as I'd be glad to lend a helping hand..

Hey, Jay, you're looking mighty sporty in those pink bibs!

Dennis, I hope everything is better soon!

Dave, yes, I know where the saw is and no worries for a few day of me starting it.

For sure I have no choice but to take it easy for a while. I am just about ready though to see if I can make it over to the sugar bush. If so, maybe I'll post some pictures.

I'll be seeing the doc on April 1.
