Lennox Montage?

First post...HI All!

Looking for any input on this stove. My local plumbing/heating supply store has one left for fairly cheap. I know it's not a Harman or a Quad, but I need to replace an older ('92-'93) pellet stove that has seen better days. I haven't been able to find much information here or anywhere else regarding this stove, aside from the Lennox website description. Maybe that means no one is complaining about problems with it, and that's a good thing?

I've seen it called both a "Whitfield" and a "Country" Montage. A Lennox rep emailed me and said it is their own. I honestly don't know who makes it, or if it even really makes a difference. I'm really just looking for some unbiased feedback about this stove or even from other Lennox pellet stove owners regarding their quality, warranty, etc.

its a decent machine, Branded Lennox, but most of the guts are very whitfield-ish. Its user friendly, relatively easy to clean, all and all you could do much worse. No real issues in the field on the units we've put out there.

Lennox purchased Country Stoves in 2006. The Lennox Winslow I puchased last year still says "Country" on the control panel.

My Lennox (a.k.a. "Country") Winslow insert has worked fine all winter. I have burned three different pellets and it handles them all fine. That's the only experience that I have.

Thanks much guys. ;-) I really appreciate your input. I just never really thought about Lennox when it comes to pellet stoves. The local fireplace shop in town carries Quadrafire and the next closest shop carries St. Croix. And neither had any end of season sale priced stoves even remotely close to the deal on this Lennox unit.

I've burned one for almost 2 years now and runs flawless. Just keep it clean and your good to go.

I also have the Montage. Its a workhorse! Very simple to operate, maintain, and very reliable. Been using mine for about 3 seasons now and not a single flaw or issue. For 32,000 BTUs it throws really good heat. If you go with it, keep us posted on how it goes!

Thanks for the reply! ^^^ Our old pellet stove was rated at 40,000 btu input, so I think this one would be just fine.

Just wanted to ask one more question...There was a Lennox Montage owner that posted here a while back, about a "problem" with thermostat operation; https://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/forums/viewthread/34216/

Lennox states that the unit currently comes with a wired t-stat and I would prefer to use a wireless one, possibly a Skytech TS/R-2. Can anyone tell me if this one, or another similarly priced model will work with the Montage?

The Skytech instructions say it can be wired for 24V electronic spark ignition fireplaces and Lennox says that the Montage included wired thermostat is 24 volt, so I'm somewhat optimistic. Thanks in advance.

I would think any one of those thermostats would work just fine. The montage does come with a basic wired honeywell thermostat which is what im using. They did have that issue but they did come out with an enhamcement kit for older models that will correct the issue. The newer ones should have that kit already installed. I did have to put the enhancement kit in mine a year ago. It was covered under the warranty and the dealer was really great about explaining the situation. What trim kit are you going with? I chose the gothic trim. I really liked the contemporary also. But I love the machine. Are you going with a custom color?

I'm assuming that this stove is a newer model, being leftover from last year's heating season. Is there a way to tell, by looking at it, if the stove has received the upgrade? I like the Gothic trim also, which is what I'll buy if we get the stove. Didn't know that Lennox offered custom colors, but being a leftover I'm assuming this one is black. Thanks again for the info.

The custom color was an option that my dealer told me about. Stove comes black and the dealer did the paint job. I got it painted honey glow brown. came out good and matches my decor nicely. When you get your montage, under the hopper lid is the label for the stove and when it was built. I would say if it was built in mid to late 2009 than it should have the kit already installed. It basically consists of a new control board and they put a damper lock on for the recommended setting of the damper.

I've had my Lennox Montage for about 5 years. There are 2 major problems with it:
1. The fan runs constantly from the time the thermostat kicks on (blowing cold air), through the burn cycle, all the way until it's blowing cold air again, i.e, there is no switch to tell it that the air is warm enough for someone to want it blown into the room.
2. I have had to replace the igniter twice. This is not only an expensive part, it's a pain to replace.
It does, however, keep us from freezing!
