Hi everyone, getting ready for our 3rd winter of full time burning here in Michigan. Ive been reading and looking at a few other pics and I started thinking. Did we do our chimney install correctly?? We read over the instructions at least 20 times, so we were pretty confident. But, Ive never seen another install the same as ours.

Doublewall stovepipe - cathedral ceiling - 12ft of class A chimney with roof supports.

We brought the Class A chimney down past the support box approx. 1-2" then did the connector to the doublewall pipe. We've never had any issues just wondering if its correct to extend the class A into the room. We scuffed it up, cleaned it with TSP and then spray painted with stove paint. Anyway, would love a critique. Husband and wife install.....we wheeled it in ourselves, picked it up onto the heart, and did the rest to finish!

Looks ok. Nice hearth and good teamwork. How has the stove worked out for you?

What stove is it? Looks like a PE S27, like mine.

Thanks for the compliment its actually a PE Summit. We love our stove and want to have "I love my stove" T-shirts....kidding, but seriously love our stove. We have a 3yr supply of red, black and white oak. We cut on rotation so it always has a 2yr of season which is perfect! Ya know, our instructions for the stove pipe said that the class A must extend at least 1" into the room. Its the Selkirk brand sold at Menards...supervent. It said to allow the Class A to extend at least 1" past the cathedral ceiling support box. Never said anything about 6"....wonder if thats just Canada code or what???

We are mocked by our friends as the couple who stop on the side of the road to pick up oak firewood. My reply "If you saw a dollar laying on the sidewalk wouldn't you pick it up?" Their reply "Well yeah". Me...."My point exactly""I like my house at 75 degrees when its 0 outside blowing 20mph and my furnace hasnt run in weeks!

Burn on!

Ya mean, like THIS??????

If the class a extends into the room how is it supported? I understood that the Class A would sit inside the ceiling support box. I don't understand how you could see it.

On simpson brand stuff you are correct. The ceiling support box actually supports the calss A pipe above it, you don't see the silver. Then below the box the connector pipe attaches.

We have no 6" minimum that I'm aware of.
