Feeling the Heat

Forecast is for 6"-12" of snow today south of Duluth MN. It"s snowing and blowing right now. Took the dogs out and it's nasty out there Good thing I have wood in the house and more on the deck. My wife stayed home. Just going to sit and stoke fire. My favorite thing to do.
Doug

We got 6 inches last night and apparently 2-5 this evening is the forcast... Enjoy the stoking.

Shawn

Not over yet. Several inches last night and another 3-5" predicted for today. Not supposed to thaw either so looks like I have to put the snow blade back on.

I like the general attitude on this board.

What I'm really sick of is the people I know complaining about this winter. Ya, I'd like spring, but now I have to put up with whiners too. Snow's gonna fall when it falls.

Nothin better than burnin with snow fallin.....gotta love it...I do love the snow..I even find it fun to drive in....in my lil honda....ya AP, no sense in complainin I always say....cause no one wants to hear it....and it doesn't make the situation any better....won't change anything :)

+1

As much as I like our late fall and early spring here I do miss the snow. Lucky to get a decent one here every other year and stokin the fire while the white stuff is coming down is just this side of heaven for me and mine.

As of last Sunday, people were still riding snowmobile on Tug Hill and in portions of the Adirondacks. And it was 4 °F in Saranac this morning... still heating season, will be for a while yet.

We won't be getting a foot, but south shore Massachusetts could get a token 4-6" by the time everything's done tomorrow. Oh joy... at least all the previous crud snow and snowbanks are gone.

Was contemplating moving south, some where in northern continental US.
But you guys are having winters like we have here, so moving may not be all
I think it would be.
I'll hang around here for a few more years anyway, see if moving still feels a tempting
then. (Long dark winters start to drag on you, specially this time of the year, "cabin fever" maybe)

I love winter, wish it would last a solid six months and then summer for six months, hate the in between 65 one day, snow the next.

Ya, woke up to about 4" on the ground, and it's still coming down. Ran the tractor w/plow for about an hour, and while walking back to the house, noticed there was already almost another 1/2" on the ground.
Put a turkey in the oven about an hour ago, so with that and the Ashley at 500, the house is toasty. Smells like thanksgiving in here, too. Mmmm.
Might have to make a punkin pie.
Oh, and the dogs......well, one of our weiner dogs went out the front door this am, took a look at all the snow, and promptly p'd on the porch. Bad dog.

Oh heck Papa....love those weiner dogs....you made me laugh today....needed a good one...wish I was at your house for some good thanksgivin eats.... :cheese:

Sounds like you are "a natural" for Alaska!
That us, 6 months of winter, 2 weeks of spring, 2 weeks of fall. 5 months of summer (mid April to mid Sept)
You might like Willow, Glenn Allen or Valdez, lots of snow for 6 months. Arctic Man begins is month, near Paxon. Still have lots of snow then.

Hey bogy...how do ya deal with the no sunlight thang??? Just wonderin....bet it can be a downer??? Any Vitamin D deficiency in your parts??? Got a severe deficiency myself...never had it before...it's pretty bad....makes you feel like crap...been on prescription vitamin D for a while....still not feelin too good...

Still burnin 24/7 here. I think I got close to a foot of snow. It started last night along with thunder and lightning, the real heavy concrete type stuff with a couple of inches of ice underneath. Looks like temps will be below freezing for the rest of the week.

Glad to give ya a chuckle. His name is BigBoy, but he acts like a Big baby sometimes, completely fearless at other times.
Do you get a chance to get outside much? Even in the winter, I try to go outside at least once a day even if there's no sunshine. I figure the diffused light helps with the "D" production, albeit at a lesser rate.
Just looked at the oven timer, we're still 1.5 hrs. away from turkey coma. I'll take a nap for 'ya. Feel better.

Well here we get bout 5.5 hours on the shortest days. Stay busy, cut wood, get outside during daylight. Just have to dress well for it.
Above the arctic circle is where no sun in the winters
Here is daylight & sun angles in my area:

Last week, 50's, this week low 30's for highs and low 20's for lows. Snow predicted for this evening and tomorrow. I'd like spring to start, but resolved to the fact that I live in NH and spring can come late. I agree that complaining can get old, but with long winter, it's inevitable! I've complained a bit, but in a light-hearted way with co-worder, etc. I figure if you don't like where you live, then it's time to move - if you don't move, than quit complaining (at least REAL complaining). Keep burnin' folks! Cheers!

Maybe need a "Bigboy" weiner to keep me goin  love the name.....been thinkin of gettin a dog...love those dogs....bogy..don't know how ya do it with the sunshine thing....bet you just get used to it....thanks guys for the thoughts...

Not as bad here as you Northern guys have it, but high today was 74 and predicted low for tonight 27! Yikes :bug: Droping at a rete of 10 º s per hour.

Wow!!!!! In the 70's in Indiana and Illinois and not even above freezing here. That's too much.....but I'd still rather have this than tornado warnings like Jay says he has in Indiana. I just received an email from someone in Indiana and they said 75 today there. We're expecting single digits nights for a while here too. Not much thawing for another week.

Still about 60 here, they say 20's tonight. One spark is all it takes.

That Indiana stuff just developed on the other side of us....glad we missed that. Hope everbody in IN is OK. I haven't burned at all for 5 days or so, but going to have to start back up tongiht. Hang in there Dennis. I am almost done with my new stove install in the kitchen and really hoping for one last chance to break it in before the season is over.
