Since there really aren't that many videos of this on the net, I thought it might be nice if some (or someone) would post a video of their start up process for their gassifier. If anyone can, it would be greatly appreciated!

I would be happy to except you'll probably have to wait until next heating season. Once we get the boiler running, the only time in the heating season that we allow the fire/coals to go completely out is if we plan to be away from the house for a few days and we let the oil take over.

For us it's a fairly simple process...place some small spits over the nozzle, cover them with some kindlling/paper and put a few small splits on top. Hit the kindling/paper with the propane torch for about 30 seconds and slowly close the door...come back in about 15 minutes and load up the firebox with wood and that's that.

There are some good ones on Youtube. Check out the Atmos GSE vid, it shows a gasser being lit underneath as most do. This is a German Vid. Randy

hey thanks. even a reload video would be nice if you get the chance for now

Most of the banner advertisers here in the boiler room have videos of their boilers on their sites. Just point, click, follow the links, many videos out there. Just takes time to see them all.

Wow, do you guys always burn wood as small as in the americansolartechnics video? He says no kindling....but I'd say it is all kindling! No wonder you guys are all in great shape! :)

That boiler uses small splits for startup. Then larger pieces go in.
The fuel tube is only 8", and the firebox is not too much larger.
Our new unit (landed here yesterday) takes full sticks up to 3' long. We have been running
one in our shop for over a year. This one will replace the one in the video.

Should be in in a week. I screwed up one piece of stainless and need to get it re-done.

Now, if I only had some firewood...
