NE PA
Where I live in NE PA we are in the midst of a natural gas rush. Last week one of the pipeline companies clear cut a 60x1500 foot swath through my neighbors' woods, and the nice lady that she is, told them to pile the logs up for me for firewood. I can't begin to guess how many cords we are talking about, but I think it will be years of 24/7 burning to get through it. Most of the trees aren't big enough for saw logs, but it should add up. Mostly sugar maple, some cherry, some ash.

They gonna be hydro-effing there? Be sure to buy your neighbor a hell of a Christmas gift this year. Thats a nice score.

marry her quick!

New Pipeline clear cut Clod?

Nice score there, hell of a nice neighbor as welll.

It probably looks a bit like some of our neighbors. The power company just went through and widened their right-of-way. Seems when contracts were signed not many realized all of the fine print. They have a certain width from the lines they have now as the right-of-way but in addition to that, they can, if they so choose, cut outside that right-of-way. Something about a "brush line." We have one neighbor who has enough firewood now for probably 10 years.....and he burns a lot with an OWB. He even lucked out and sold a few hundred dollars worth of logs.

Need Pic's sounds to good to be true! lol

That is AWESOME! I've done a lot of wildlife surveys during the past couple summers in NE/NC PA due to the new pipelines. I must say, Potter County, PA is one of the most beautiful spots I've seen in PA - I'd consider retiring there! Cheers!

Nice score, and a really nice neighbor. Are they drilling there, or just running the line through?

Yes, she is a very nice neighbor. We rent her farm for making hay and she has always taken it pretty easy on us.
And yes, they are drilling and hydrofracking here, which I guess is going to have its pluses and minuses. The worst part for us so far has been the increase in traffic. We went from living on a road where you could unfold your lawn chair and take a nap in the eastbound lane, to getting about 300 tractor trailers going by at all hours, and often at 20 mph above the posted speed limit. We've had a lot of stuff run over in the last 6 months (a dog, fence, etc) and nobody has ever stopped to try to make it right.
So far our water is still good. As is my firewood supply.
