Breckwell P23 Convection Blower - New Model A-E-033A

From what I gather the new mootor is quiter and also runs cooler due to the fans at each end. This helps keep it from cooking the lube from the bearings. Its also easier to change the bearings as thats what goes first in these.

By the way for just a few bucks you could replace the bearings in the old blower and shelf it for a spare. Bearings go for just a few bucks each.

I've never purchased bearings before and have no idea where they can be obtained. Hardware stores? Online? What's the 411

There are several Bearing Distributors in my area. I just call or go there, with the all the specs on the bearing. Need to measure the I.D hole, the O.D, and Width, with a Vernier caliper, or a Micrometer. Like Jay said, Cheap, Really cheap..

which one will blow out more heat ??

I have a Breckwell P24I.

If you’re referring to the blower in your last pictured as being new, I’m not so sure. I purchased one that looks like that about five years ago. Mine has a sticker on it from Fasco. It states it is a Sealed Ball Bearing motor. It also has a smaller squirrel cage than the enclosed blower motor it replaced, similar to the one in your first pictures. It lasted about two years then started making squeaking noises. When I turned the insert off for cleaning I examines the blower and the squirrel cage would not turn freely. I took it out, oiled the hell out of it and the cage freed up. I reinstalled it and it lasted about two months then started acting up again. I just replaced it with a new enclosed motor blower.

The size of the squirrel cage on the open motor blower is 3.5†x 1.75â€. The cage on the enclosed blower motor is 4†x 2â€. If yours are similar that might account for the increase in noise, more air, more noise?

One thing about the open motor blower that got me was I had to tie up the wiring harness to keep it out of the way of the spinning end cap. Hopefully your setup is designed differently.

Replacing mine today. After 4 years the old one quit. Better description, was making all sorts of screeching sounds and figured that it was no longer reliable.

How have your results been since you replaced yours?

Screeching sounds are not good, that’s what my last one was doing. The one that’s in now was purchased 2/1/2011 so it isn’t very old and runs fine. I guess I’m gun sky because I’m anticipating hearing that screeching sound any minute. Every time I turn off the stove to clean it I fear hearing that humming sound on restart, meaning the shaft is frozen and the squirrel cage won’t turn. That’s what the original motor did after a cleaning one day and I’ve never forgot it.

Are you sure?? Most FASCO convection blowers have oil ports. See the pics below, and be reminded that sometimes the blower/motor assembly gets assembled with the oil ports on the underside....mine was that way, and I took it apart and rotated it so they're on the upper side now. If you see the yellow plugs, just pull them out, oil w/ 2-3 drops of SAE 20 oil or 3 in 1, and put plugs back in:

How did you manage to get all 4 of the screws back in? Is there a squence that you need to follow? I am having just the worst time ever trying to get the lower left one back in.
