Tarm 140 with 850 gallon storage. Tank temp started at 47 degrees F at 3 pm yesterday. All was working fine, with draft fan shutting down at 175 degrees F. Filled with wood when I went to bed; 11:00 pm, tank temp 96 degrees F.

Got up this morning to check things. Tank temp is 104 degrees F. Draft fan not running. Tarm temp is at 212 degrees F. Circ to tank is running.

What's going on???

Piping diagram?

Things have greatly improved...

I had failed to open a ball valve that I put in to isolate my new install from the oil system, so I could pressure test and work without water in the pipes.

This forum has been a great resource. This install has taken 2 years, due to money, and other major projects that came along (new septic system) and other work. Sure I spent more on oil, but my boiler will last two years longer...

Thanks again,

my solo plus 40 is set for 180, I've seen temps as high as 187 top reading in epdm storage tank. My low reading will show 147+- so if you wait stratification will take care of the excess heat. You can stuff more BTU's into storage. Good luck these are awesome machines and soon enough you will be glad you own it. Sweetheat
