I tried 3 bags of Bearfoot pellets over the past couple of days and noticed that a lot of the pellets seem to be extra long. I can hear them getting caught and broken in auger when it feeds the burn pot.

Is the longer pellet length common for the Barefoots? I'm wondering if long term use could have an impact on the auger or auger motor.

The ones I get from SSWP have always been a little long.
My stove burns through them quickly due to the size but my auger chomps
up anything without a problem. With some stoves I could
see the auger taking a beating though.

Found a supplier in PA (capitol area) carrying Barefoot's. Called for pricing ... $280/ton. I wished them good luck and hung up. Drove less than 15 miles to a local hearth shop and picked up 3 tons of Turman's @ $215/ton. That combined with a half ton of leftover Hamer's, I should be nearly set for next season. Shame, I really wanted to try the Barefoots.

My Barefoots are 3 years old and are definitely not long.

I have been burning barefoot pellets for almost 3 seasons and never had issues with the length of the pellets, very consistent quality.

we just got a truckload of barefoot at the shop. Burning great, not noticing any long pellets. One of the guys, who burns only cubex in his p38, took a few bags home to try and said they (barefoot) were burning with less ash and clinker than the cubex did.

Thanks for all the posts. I shoudl have taken a picture of the longer pellets, some of them were as much as 2x longer then the NEWP or Okanagan that I was using.

I also noticed some long pellets in the Bare Foots I tried. They were 1.5"+ range. the date on the bags is 01-10.

I will have to pull one of the bags out of the recycling bin and see what the date is. Maybe it was just a wierd batch. My M55C was puting out some pretty good heat with them so I'd like to continue to use them but don't want to risk mechanical issues with the stove.

the pellets have not been too long for my stove.i always considered barefoots as one of the best pellets .i even like them better than the cubies. also would say okis are a smaller pellet than the barefoots .if you think the barefoots are long stay away from the Juniata
