Just picked up 20 bags of Great American Pellets, made in nearby Palmerton, Pa.
They will be going in later today. I will post an update after I burn a few bags.
Has anyone else ever used these pellets?

Yes, in the past day there have been posts. Search for Great American Pellets. aka Keystone, and also sold under the Powerhouse brand. Plant opened brand new in February.

Where did you get them, how much did you pay? We have prices of $4 and $5.20 so far. That $4 may be an introductory price.

Please post your impressions when you know. Weather is warming up now, you may not have to burn that much.

I picked them up for $4.00 a bag at a local stove shop.
The price is good "until supply lasts"
As long as the wife knows how to control the thermostat burning may not be over so soon......

Well alright some more folks trying GAP's blade050 looking forward to your review of GAP's. Jay Man looking for your review also.

Look what I got today by UPS! :)

Review coming soon!

I've got 9 empty bags just like that with 1 more to go in the hopper look forward to your review.

Just stopped by hearth store in Rosendale NY yesterday and he had only a few bags of great american pellets. He may begin stocking them if he likes them. I was sorta surprised that this shop had stocked Okies and a few other pellet brands last year. I bought a few bags of schuylerville NEWP from him. Also found he was burning a mix of grass pellets and corn. Grass pellets were from the mobile mill grass pellet folks. Jay, let them Great Americans rip and give us the straight scoop.

Schoondog

Here's what I have so far. Good density, A little bit of fines, But these were handled by USP and I am sure they bounced them around some. Minimal dust. Pleasent smell smelled like sweet maple to me. Temps were nice at 251ºF. I'm liking them so far. They seem to be burning white hot!

You can cut the anticipation with a knife. Eager to hear a few more reviews before the end of the season. Getting warm, at least temporarily, in a few days.

I have a few more samples lined up. I am picking up NEWP NY(latest from the mill) and MWP tomorrow. Hoping to get the Geneva Super Premiums(shipment from the mill is late) before too long. Also hoping for the Greene Team Gold and maybe the latest Maine Choice. I also have the Energex Americans to round it all off. I might have to open the windows but I will finish most of these. I usually burn to mid may.

The full reviews will be posted on woodpelletreviews. I will also post a chart with all the info combined just in case.

Are the Greene Team Gold different from their usual pellet. They have some near me but the price seems a little high to me so I passed on trying them.
Look forward to your Maine's Choice review. That is my favorite pellet so far. My bags say 02-11 and burn great. Got them cheap.

Greene Team Gold is the pellet dealers version of the Greene Teams Lowes sells(Same pellet in a different bag).

The Maine Choice have got me curious too. So far I am impressed with Great Americans heat from a chipped log pellet. They are doing something right. Very hard to tell they are a chipped pellet. The Chipped pellets I have seen have a grainy texture and When you snap them you can see the wood chips/chunks. These are the by far the densest and If there are chips in there there very small. They don't have the shinny surface of a dust pellet though.

Because of the looming fiber shortage(if it happens-But I heard from some good insiders). Except for the BC softwoods, These chipped pellets may be all that we can get for a steady supply. I am trying to check out all I can get my hands on.

Anyone know of any other chipped log pellets?

OK, I can see how shortsighted I was now, thinking you might be testing just one brand. You have this down to a science. Awesome website, Jay. You're quite a resource.

I have added these to my watch out for list. Depending on local price's they could be a bargain! Well with in my scope of a good quality Premium grade pellet and the best chipped log pellet I have burned to date! Almost made the Super Premium ash level standard! I'm very impressed overall!

Now to find a local supply!

Thanks for the review Jay. I thought they were a decent quality pellet I picked up 15 more bags yesterday. I also spoke with the stove shop owner told him that I liked them, he said he had one fellow who bought 5 ton . I cleaned the garage yesterday making more room for pellets hope to have a 2 ton stash for next season.

The people here in Eastern PA will definitely benefit from a replacement for the defunct Treecycle operation. I visited GAP when it was under construction, and met Jeff. He said the operation has variables that can be tweaked. It's great to hear that this early into it they have a good baseline.

So far I have used 4 bags and they burn just fine. Light color fluffy ash with no clinkers.
Temperature output seems good but it's not cold outside so heating season will be the ultimate test.
I am going to check on a price and availability of getting a couple of tons.

I would jump on them soon when I spoke with them on Saturday it was like you said in an early post, price is good "while supply lasts". I'm getting more this week.

I haven't noticed much temp difference with weather changes. A reason I temp check pellets with a thermometer.

Jay did you every find a Local source for GAP?

Thanks Jay I will check it out. I haven't use CT pellet yet used BT the last few years
