Well I just called this guy very nice and asked him what his prices are and what he has for choices? Not sure what to get So I purchased 5 bags each of the following to try but the forecast is for it to start warming up so I am not sure If I can get a good feel. any in puts would help. He also can get tractor trailer loads deliveried to your town. Right from the manufaturer.

Dry creek 229 Bought these for 2010 not immpressed
NEWP 216 ny bagged
Bare foot 259
Cubex 235
Curran softwood 240 I did not buys these kind of mixed reviews

The price you got for the Cubex is VERY good, and I'd be jumping all over those, BIG TIME!! The Barefoot price is $9 more than I paid last year at this time (including delivery), but not terrible. The NEWP price is very good IF they burn well in your stove....they have been so-so for the past couple of years.

Also, sending you a PM.

I will probally go with the cubex get my 5 tons this month and then enjoy summer.

If your total for the winter will be 5 tons, maybe get 4 tons of the Cubies, and a ton of the Dry Creek just for shoulder burning.

Are the cubies that much hotter?

Wow CUBEX for that price is incredible, that is a really good pellet. Grab as many tons as you can....OINK

As someone who sells Curran Softwood, I would still stock up now on the Cubex at that price. I did have a very good customer in here about a half hour ago who uses Cubex (came in to buy BBQ Pellets) and he told me he may want to try something different. Claims the end of the year Cubex started making a lot more ash than before.

My guess is this is a result of a "end of the year" dirty stove.

Yeah thats who it is. I will probally go back next week and start picking them up.

Cubex found out why the ash increased and stopped using the slow growth trees in pellet production!
bkfc255 Not sure where in Upstate you are but I can deliver Cubex for $238 when ordering 4 or more and $225 picked up. A place south of Oneida lake called B and B normally has good prices on some of the pellets you had listed also.
Frank I will be in Monday after noon to drop of some Cubex and NEWP bags to you. I have been wanting to stop in but just had a baby so it was a bit busy.

I live on the south end of the great sacandga lake just north of Amsterdam. I have a friend who has a flat bed trailer which can haul 7000 lbs so 2 trips and i will be done.

Mullholand enterprises is a great place to deal with I hear. I have recommended them to other eastern NY customers looking for trailer loads a couple of times. Cubex did have an ash problem but they have rectified it and also worked on keeping the dust level lower in the bags! You might want to try some bags of the NEWP he should have the same deal as us with getting only new product because he was one of the top sellers so we had a bit of say on what we get. The NEWP as of late have been burning almost as hot as the Cubex with a bit more ash. A good shoulder pellet. If you do look for a lot number like 1020-1088. My father and I have been burning them with good results. He has a Quad Mt Vernon AE and I have a Quad Castile.

Sounds good. Bring a picture of the baby! Want to try a few bags of the Currans?

Just curious, do you know when Cubex fixed the ash problem? I have a person I work with that just bought 4 tons Cubex and said he is getting a lot of ash. I burned them 2 years ago and loved them.

Thanks
Chris

I do not know for sure when the problem started or what the date was that they started to run new material to solve the ash problem. If I find out I will post the information. Some people that had the ash problem actually had stove problems also. Most people seemed to fix it by increasing the air to the burn pot, decreasing the pellet feed, and cleaning the stove=(increasing the air flow). If that doesn't help he may have the ashy pellets.
