Last night i replaced the exhaust blower. 7/16 rachet and a phillips screw driver was all that was needed...and an arm/hand that can contortion into any position. The 2 top bolts where ball busters to get off. 1/8 turns at a time. Ugghh. All in all it took about 2 hours. The sound level is night and day difference. Not sure why i waited so long to replace it. I should of took pics...

It was bad already after only 4 years? At that rate I will need to do mine next year. What problems was it giving you, not working or loud? was it cleaned good before replacing?

Ive owned my stove for about 8 years I think. So this was my 1st exhaust blower replacement. The noise level was getting obnoxious. Then about a month ago, there was a new high pitch metal on metal whine that forced me to purchase a new one. It was a very gradual sound increase over the years. On cleaning the blower, I never really tore the stove down that far to get at the blower to clean it.

Yea, sorry i don't know where I got 4 years from. I see in your signature that it is longer, Must be brain fade. :cheese:

Mine is just starting to make some noises. So far it's faint enough that I can only hear it when on the lowest speed. I want to buy one and keep it ready just in case, especially since I'm on the original blower and it's running on its 5th season. Any idea where I can get a good deal on one?

I know it's kind of against the rules....BUT I have a combustion blower for a Mt Vernon AE which I ordered for a customer (at full retail $260.00) and while I was waiting for it to come in, they had another stove shop install one...so I wouldn't mind selling this one off. Free shipping if anyone wants it. PM me if you are interested. If you are local I'll install it for free.

Complete new exhaust motor. New $170 Installed would of been $280 total.

I removed everything. Makes it much easier to extract it and put it back in.
On another note, the new blower is already making a squealing noise. Uggh

"I removed everything"
Thanks, that was a good idea.

Two things were vital: A socket wrench with a flexible extension and a big box of band-aids.
I am considering drilling the rivets that hold the control box mount and mounting it elsewhere. Then I would not have to remove the harness.

Now I need a new motor:

Inscription on motor:
Jakel, Inc.
J238-150-15265
120V 1.6A
Hearth & Home replacement part # 7000-123

Could anyone ship me one to White Plains, NY on Monday?

I thought I saw somewhere that a replacement blower can be bought from Tractor supply or another box store like it. Does anyone out there know what the part number for an exhaust blower might be at one of the stores....?

Did you ever find that replacement motor you were looking for?

No. -- I soaked the bearings on the old motor with WD-40, hooked it up direct to 120V on my workbench and got it going. Oiled it up and ran it full speed for two day. Put it back but at low speed it was not powerful enough.
I gave up, hooked it up to a line cord. Now I plug it in and run it at full speed.
Works fine and I never have a smoke problem. Even burns the pellets I bought at Home Depot!
I would still consider buying a new motor complete with mounting plate and blower for a backup.
