Feeling the Heat

So, very close friends of my wife's want to get rid of their pellet stove. It is a Englander 25 PDVC/55SHP10. They bought it at Lowe's 4-5 years ago. Since then they have replaced some gaskets and in December replaced an auger motor. They are including all the piping, hearth pad, ash bucket, etc. All for $300. The only reason they want to get rid of it is because both the husband and wife have difficulty loading the stove with pellets. My brother is interested in this and I had a few questions.

Are people happy with their stoves from Englander? Is this a good deal? Anything else you want to chime in with would be great. Thanks.

Best customer service in the industry....hands down....I think that is a GREAT deal with everything included....

Hello

You cannot buy a good working stove for $300 bucks. That is a great deal. My neighbor was not happy at first with the way the heat was coming out. So with my advice he called Englander and spoke to a very knowledgeable Tech who helped him adjust the settings on the bottom 3 buttons. Now he could not be any happier with it! It works just the way he and his wife likes it !!!

As a present Englander owner, if that stove was available here with all the extra's for $300, I'd be handing them the $$ as fast I could get to an ATM & back! That is a STEAL!!

And as mentioned above, they have one of, if not THE best customer service in the industry. And Mike Holton, who is the Senior Tech for Englander Customer Service, is a member of this forum too.

I just bought a 25-PDV thats 15 yrs old , made 5/96 (all analog, not digital) for $300. It ran o.k. when I got it, but not well. A little cleaning and a new auger motor and comustion blower, and she is running like new. I am in for $440 total and I got a half ton of pellets, and all the flue (around 12ft of pipe, a T, and 2 90's, and Term cap). Throws heat like a Champ.
So a 4-5 yr old PDVC for $300 with pad and pipe, is a STEAL. Watch for the COPS when your taking it out of there house, cause your a Thief!!! LOL. Englander does have great support, talked to them twice in the last month. Always friendly and having one of there Head Techs as a Member on this Forum, doesn't hurt either. So get it, while the gettin's good.

You might have to shut it down and clean it a litte more then some other stoves but they work well.

I have one we bought used, it's a 2006 model. I paid around 600 bucks for the stove and pipe. I'd jump on one for 300 bucks with all that. It does need more cleaning than other models and we have had a couple of issues but overall it's not a bad stove for a well insulated home or a home on the smaller side.

Hell yeah! Like Imacman said as fast as I could get the money out of the ATM.
Shoot the exhaust to stove adapter, 3'x3" pipe, wall thimble and end cap cost me around $140.

WHY CAN I NEVER FIND DEALS LIKE THAT????? Darn, if you don't have it already in the back of your truck, you're crazier than I am!!!!

How often do you have to clean a stove with no ashpan?
Just say your averaging a bag a day.

I generally shut it down every morning and clean it. Just a scoop and a vacuum one day, the next day scrape, move the sheild and vacuum good. It runs 27/7 and it takes a month to fill a big maxwell house tin with the ashes.

i'd buy another one. i shut it down in the a.m. dump the pot and relite it and do the same thing in the p.m.
and shut it down and clean it once a week its never failed me

I'll give you guys a little sneak peak...

My company will be offering an opt in extended labor warranty for new and used Englanders starting in a few weeks. For short money, you no longer have to diagnose or troubleshoot yourself....wouldn't do it if I didn't believe in the product so much, stay tuned.

But wouldn't that mean if we had warranties and service we would no longer come here to about other brands breaking down? Let me say in advance just joking.

I bought my 02 Model 25 PVDC for $300 and it came with all the piping and 20 bags of pellets. I got a steal on it. And completely love it.

Update on the stove. My brother decided to pass on the stove and I am not interested, so it will be on the market soon. I think the asking price will be in the $500 range now.
