Alright, I know pretty much everyone here has their prefered stove brand, whether it be Lopi, Jotul, Pacific Energy, etc...; so I decided we could have a little fun here- what's yours, & why? Do you like [insert stove brand here] because of their looks?, preformance?, price?, other??

I tried to list most of the well-known brands in the poll, but I know I didn't include them all, which is why I included the "other" option. :)

btw- about the BK option- sorry, I couldn't resist! lol ;)

Go through this every year. Everybody's favorite stove brand and model is the one they own.

How are they gonna know if they like one they haven't used?

I don't prefer a stove brand so much as I prefer the right stove for the right situation. My initial preference was for an Isle Royale because I'd love to run this heat machine for a season or two and I like the way it looks and is made. But it was not right for our small living room, close clearance, corner install. The Alderlea has showed me a lot of nice characteristics that weren't on the radar, but now are. Not a perfect stove, it doesn't have thermostatic dampering and the ash system sucks, but it's a very good stove that I will be reluctant to change. That said, I've owned Jotuls and really liked them. And I even like VC stoves, or at least I like the original models that made the company. I have friends with all sorts of stoves and am impressed by them too. Which brings up a point, where are Morso, Buck, any of the SBI stoves, Napoleon, etc.. Seems like a limited list.

I know it's a limited list- hence the "other" option. It wouldn't allow me to put more than 12 options on there, otherwise I would've listed more.

The two Elm owners in the world are pissed. As well as the other barrel stove burners.

Which kind of points out another limitation of this kind of survey.

Like BB said, the best stove is the one I'm burning in.

And if it ain't, damned if I am gonna admit it. (noticed the BK traffic slowed down along about February)

The reason for February was at about that time it was our third and LAST load for the season and done paying attention to our stoves. If spring comes a little earlier we may be back in here again when we half to put our fires out. It sucks if you don't time it right and your stove burns for an extra month when it doesn't have to. %-P
Cheers

Man that is a tough question for me to answer as I liked my old Dutchwest and the jury is still out on the new stove right now (probably will be until the end of next burning season). The other probelm is even though I liked my Dutchwest I really dont' want to pick VC because I really don't like some of the models they currently have out. Decision decisions.....

Is it true that they made Blaze Kings so you only have to load them three times a year because the owners didn't want to look at them any more frequently than that?

Heck, you put a paper bag over your head, they all look alike . . .

The best stove is one you can stand by when you are cold. Then it matters not so long as it gives heat.

Of course Woodstock is our favorite even though we've owned several other stoves over the years. We also looked a lot of new stoves before settling on the Woodstock Fireview.

Best reasons for us is we burn 1/2 the wood we used to and stay a lot warmer; a lot. Also it is a super clean burn so we don't spend much time cleaning chimneys or stove. To top it all off, it is a beautiful stove even in the summer months. Price is not low but not super high especially if buying when the really good sales are on.

thats funny, my favorite is always the one I don't have, the one Im drooling over on some webpage.

Even though I dont have one I voted Blaze king (princess, king) because of the long burn times, no smoke and the constant temp from the thermostat, which is what we all want from a stove. I would love to buy one but postage to Australia would be a bit $$$$.

That has to be one of the best BK jokes I've heard lately!

My favorite is P.E.
Next would be Drolet, Flame, and Osburn because they are heavily built, and offer good bang for the buck.
I did look at a Caddy wood furnace and was impressed with it also. Unfortunately, $3000 is more than I'm willing to spend.

That is so true! My kids 9 and 11 are the first one's to say "Dad start a fire!" This year was the first year that I started to teach them how to work the stove, start fires and such. They have lived with it almost their whole life, so they respect the fire. But they love the stove. PS. They don't know what brand it is...

I know! I'm always drooling over stoves I don't have- maybe someday I'll get a place large enough to accomodate the dozen+ stove/fireplace models I want... gotta get a bit more money first.. hehe

Well, have run nothing but the old VC stoves (defiant and vigilant) in my lifetime, however, looks like I will be moving into the world of the Jotul F600 this year. So, I can vote with what I know OR vote with what I plan to get. Decisions, decisions........aw heck, I will use the cop outs from above and say the stove that is keeping me and my family warm.

I am not going to vote for my own stove because I realize I have way too little experience with stove brands to have a meaningful opinion. How many of us have actually used more than a couple of different stoves?

I want a 3 cu-ft front loading (and side loading) up-sized Woodstock Keystone wood stove. Can't own one cause they are working some kind of hybrid thingy stove instead.

This Englander 30 I bought had better be a great stove...... ;)

at least until Woodstock sees the merit in my idea...

For fit, finish and quality of construction, I've got to go with Morso.
