Feeling the Heat
I figured I would chime in with the "how do you get your pellets home" and some pics. I picked up a ton today of Lignetics. They have Blue lettering instead of the green from last time. They both say hardwood and conifer blend....only the lettering is different from what I have seen. Anyway the pics will show a ton in my 04 FX4 with the HD payload package and tow package. The drop was 4" exactly from its normal ride height. I was about 2" shy of bottoming out on the springs from the one picture of under the truck. It handles like a champ!

Nice ride, I mean pellet hauler! :)

Thats about what my 06 Ext cab loks like with a ton on her back. So far its the best 1/2 ton pellet hauler I have owned.

Nice! Wish I could haul a full ton. Lignetics blue lettering is from Virginia, Green lettering is West Virginia.

Nice truck, Jim. I am jealous of your pellet ride and all the pellets you have. I am down to my last 20 bags and hoping it warms up soon, or else I have to go hunting for pellets.

I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee, but I have always wanted a F150! They are so useful and powerful.

I noticed the green bags have a much darker pellet....the blue is a lighter color and more consistent pellet length.

Have you noticed that the Lignetics- at least the Green Lettering that I have from WV are bigger in diameter than other pellets?

Having mine delivered for this next season...

Nice truck! I had to post a picture of mine since pellets are the most workout I've given it since I have it. This picture is with 3000 lbs in the back. You can't see the other 1000 lbs because they're stacked around the pallet. It dropped it 3.5". With the six speed manual I barely noticed it was back there. In fact, I wish I could haul a ton around all the time because the ride is terrible with anything less in the back.

i put a ton in my 07 tundra and had about an inch before it hit the bump stop, the ride was not that good until i aired up the rear tires to 50lb's then it road like normal

f-150, My brother has a f-150 just like yours even the same color. He hauled a ton of pellets home. It handled the weight fine, but the weight caused a wire to get damaged back in the rear axle area. I think it had to do with the anti lock brake sensors. He may have hit a pot hole and it bottomed out, He had a heck of a time figuring out the problem.

Are your tire LT tires or P tires? I'd sure hate to be coming towards you when your driver side tire blows or spring gives and 1 ton of 65 mph pellets gets flung at me.

Excellent point. In addition to the suspension being up to the task, tire load rating is often overlooked.

Chevy 2500HD Crew Cab here. Hauls wonderfully, and ride is decent even unloaded. Ill grab a picture when im hauling this week.

I put a ton in the back of my '10 F-150 and now the shocks are puking oil. Gonna ask if they are under warranty.

dont worry, the puking of oil stops pretty fast, after they run out.......

what set up do you have on your truck. Mine is the Heavy duty payload package and FX4 tow package etc. I have actually had (accidentally) a little over 3K in the back helping my brother in law return some leftover blocks he used to build a wall. I knew it was loaded and they had a scale.....so a before and after weighing......all I can say is WOW! No leaking or any other problems. I have been hauling pellets for the last few years......

I also have the extra leafspring in the back that came stock with my 04 suspension.

Jim

Here's what I haul pellets with....................

I know Ford did offer a heavy suspension F-150, practically made it a F-250, and had those odd ball 7 lug wheels. Is that what you have ?

2-3K in a 1/2 ton is asking for trouble. In my part of CT, the state truck squad would be yanking you over. They even pull over pickups with double axle trailers cause of the wacky weight laws we have ......

Hauled in 2 tons of Hammers pellets today :) My supplier most likly will be out of that spring allotment within a week or two, then summer pricing increases $$$
Get em early !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doesn't look like the 2500HD even broke a sweat with a ton on it! Looks like it can handle much more!

My old f250 was the best I had for pellet hauling(or about anything), Just couldn't go past any gas stations. It had a 7.8L(460 efI) and only mustered 12.5 mpg on a good day. I think it got like 6 or 7 in town. But it sure could haul and tow!

How's the chevy on fuel?

I have a buddy with a long bed 2500, and has put two tons in the back, but thats a STRAIN ! 2000 gives a Cadilac like ride, and no loss in power.

I have the 6.0 gas, 6 speed auto, 3.73 rear end. It averages 11 around town loaded or empty, and mid teens on the highway, 10-11 towing any sort of trailer.
