Alright, i have decided to build my own splitter after much research and tire kicking.
Here is what i have figured.

http://www.northerntool.com/shop/to...970&langId=-1&catalogId=4006970&fromPg=header

Honda 160cc GX series
Haldex 11gpm 2 stage pump
Nortrack 3000psi 4x24 cylinder
Prince detent splitter valve
Hydraulic filter assy.
Couplings and bracket for engine to pump.
$842.00

i know i need hoses, fittings and a few misc parts, but does this look about right as far as specs?
I did consider a 200cc Honda and a 16gpm pump, is it worth it?

Thanks for looking this over before i pull the trigger on the parts.
I will keep you updated on the build.
Thanks!

16gpm pump/motor is a relatively small priced upgrade.

Absolutely. For the small increase in cost, you will get a noticeably faster machine. Just do it.

The only thing I can think of is the $ 150 extra bucks to have it all ready to go and assembled. The husky one seem to be going for about that in the states. Any particular reason you are building it yourself? I think it has been hashed out a few times that there is really no cash to be saved by the self build route.

This hashing out was based on buying all new parts right?

Yeah i know there is not a ton of savings here, but you CAN build an upgraded version for what a "consumer" store bought model goes for.
I'll be honest with you i kicked the tires on a few new ones in the $1300 -$1500 range and was not impressed a bit. Cheaply built, plastic, lightweight IMHO.
So far i have $1100.00 in parts. I do have an axle from a junked trailer and all the I beam i will need as well as any misc steel, i have over 300lbs of welding rod that needs to be burnt anyways. This "upgraded" version will have the 200cc Honda GX engine and the 13.6 gpm pump. If i remember right the I&O 22ton with the 160 cc Honda and 11gpm pump are right at 2K. So, if a guy has the steel laying around, and you like doing this kind of work why not. Anyways i would rather set mine up to fit what i do. I am 6'5 and most of these store bought splitters are just too short. I also enjoy doing the work so why not?

If you have not already bought the engine/pump go with the 16 gpm setup. Really! You will be very happy that you did. Just do it.
