Hey guys.....got my 6401 bar caught in a red oak the other day and while getting it out broke the chain. It was a fairly new full chisel 72 link woodland pro, can I fix it, and if so how or should I junk it?

Easy fix, they make links for this one. Is the chain in good shape? Might be talking to you to replace it.

Is it still straight? And do the links still move freely?

The chain seems fine, no binding or bending that I can see, just a missing link....I found them at Bailey's. But the bar may be gone, the track on the upper portion looks like it spread apart just a little, will have to see when I put that bar back on.

Put it in a vise.

I did, took care of some of it but I'm afraid to crank down too hard for fear of popping the rivets......I had an extra Oregon 20" bar that I bought from Baileys last year, this was the original that came on the saw when I picked it up used at HD tool rental so guess I can use it as a backup once I get it back and to see if it will work.

Crank it then pull it back out large screw driver. If it does not work your still out a bar either way.
