I have just about hit 6 tons this year, and the stove is due for a cleaning. I think I am going to do the big spring cleaning, and use the Electric heat pump if I need it. They are pretty efficient in these temps.

I burned 3.5 tons this winter and also have a heat pump. I'm heating 2800 sq feet but use a P-38 and an accentra insert.

With 2 stoves you only used 3.5 tons? wow, do you use your heat pump as well?

Not done yet with night temps in the low 40's upper 30's probably burn till May.

I predicted about a month ago that I'd use somewhere around 210 - 215 bags this heating season. Well, night time temps are still a little low, and i just dumped part of bag # 212 in today.

Not tracking my exact bag count. I lost track somewhere around the bazillionth snow blowing and shoveling this season. Bag count didn't deem to matter at that point. Burned about 4 ton.

Started with ALOT of bags, now have 20 and still burning some mornings and evenings.

Got 4.8 ton of Spruce Points on the way for next year.

Some of the more credible long term forecasters are saying that three of the next five winters are going to be as cold or colder than one that is ending now.

Forya,

I have my heat pump set at 67 degree's all winter long. I have very good windows and the house has good insulation. I run my P-38 almost all winter long as that is in the basement.

As for my Accentra, I don't typically run it until it gets in the low 30's or lower.

My heat pump is fairly effecient down to about 35 degree's.

I have 6 tons stashed for next season. 3 tons of Lignetics, and 3 tons of Hamer's. I might get some more if I see a good deal

Same here. I'm too spoiled with a constant inside temp
of low to mid 70's. (yeah yeah it's warm but I'm getting old and feel cold if it goes below 72F)
Burning Green Teams as I type. Chilly, overcast, and rainy here today.

Off topic, but I think my next house is going to be smaller than my current one. I have a relatively small house - three bedroom, two bath, common living/dining room/kitchen area. Main issue is a tall ceiling - 22', and wasted space (cathedral ceiling).

With a smaller house, heating would be easier and cheaper. And I wouldn't be able to collect as much stuff.

Gone through just about 5 tons this year and still burning into may easy..

Calling for 79 today, Heat pump won't be running at all! I am looking at maybe a window AC unit this summer for my bedroom, to keep me from running my central AC all night. The kids' rooms will get a little from my bedroom that way.

I'm nearly regretting that I did a total cleanout/shutdown in early April before I went South to Florida for a few weeks, returned yesterday only to find 40-50mph winds and temps in the low to mid 40s (however, I was relieved it wasn't snowing like it was a few days ago this past weekend). To add insult to injury, my local TSC was running a sale on MWP premium wood pellets at about $4/bag, so I picked up 20 bags for next season's stash. Temps look better next week (70s on Tuesday), but one of the local meteorologists that I know personally in my area says we're in for a cold end to April even after the brief warm-up next week. This Winter doesn't want to let go.

What happened to global warming?

Global Warming causes climate change, and such can mean colder winters.

The earth's climate has been changing for the last 4.5 + or - billion years and will continue to change until the heat death of the universe at which time you aren't going to find any warming anywhere.

So the warmer the climate, the colder the winters, I don't know about that.

The warming affects the polar ends of the Earth the most, so they become warmer which causes large scale atmospheric patterns to shift, spilling cold air a lot further South than it would otherwise travel. There are all sorts of physics involved, do some Google searching and you'll find some interesting info about future Winters becoming colder and longer.

The end result of Global Warming is polar ice melting while the areas just outside the tropics become colder.

Well I thought I was then it got down to 34 last night and it was 53 in the house this morning. I blended the last bag of "emergency" corn with the little bit of pellets pellets left in the hopper and promplty got the room up to 75. My sis says I can have her 6 bags she has left over cuz she really is done for the season since she wont be home for a while.

It is tough to burn, and seems more logical to run the heat pump with a forecast like THIS

A dusting of snow this morning and temps in the 30ºF's. Stove is chugging along with a shoulder pellet in the hopper. No need for the good stuff, But I am low on the shoulder pellets. I just hope the last 7 bags get me through until shutdown?
