I thought my season was over, but this latest round of wind followed by what is supposed to be a week of below normal temperature with rain has me dumping in more Okies and keeping us toasty.

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH.....when will this end??? Going to be cool & rainy all week....just dumped part of bag #218 into the stove to take the chill off.

Man, does that make the house nice & comfortable!

Hello

It is a 4 ton winter at my house too!! In fact I burned 25 bags from next years stach!! But I like the heat!!

66 downstairs this AM and 40 outside.
Of course the stove is running!
Warm and not burning oil!
Still saving money!

Upper 30's here this morning and cloudy. Rain showers/Tstorms this afternoon.

70s and nice by Thursday, then rain and cool for the weekend.

Was raining cats and dogs yesterday morning up until about 8am then cleared off for a while then some downpours later.

Left the stoves off yesterday until about 7 in the eavening, then started the little one for the night.

Just stirred it up and refilled the little beast.

Spring would be nice.

Around here we seem to go from cool and wet to Hot and dry and nothing in between.

Fall is our nicest season with mild/warm days and cool nights.

Keep the fires burning.

keeping my furnace OFF. Saving my oil for the hot water heater only. Would get away from that if I could find a more practical way. however, my oil fired hot water heater uses very little oil and gives us all the hot water we can use. Burning pellets now mostly to keep the dampness out of the house. It has been raining every day.
Pellets are still available at reasonable prices. Stove shops still have stoves available. No sign of the madness seen in 2008.

I haven't used the stove for the last two weeks. I finally couldn't take it any more and fired it up today. It's shut off now but boy did that heat feel good! I had a financial person over today and we were talking expenses and when she asked about heating oil, I said none. She asked if I had gas....no....Then how do you heat? I took her in the family room and pointed to the pellet stove quietly running on low and she was very impressed. Told her that I have yet to use more than two tons for the season. We chatted about stoves for a while and she was mumbling something about her $2800 oil bill.

Does take the dampness out of the air, but I hate to be eating into my stash of Okies. Just checked SIB in Jay Maine his Okies are now up to $292 delivered. Ouch!

That's why a lot of us buy cheaper pellets for the "shoulder" seasons.....they usually provide enough heat for this time of year, and don't deplete into the good stuff.

Yep I am still burning here in Maine. If it is below 70 in my house the pellet stove will be running.

That's why I started buying the Maine Choice late in the season. I don't know why there was a difference from last year, but I am glad they are all gone now!

Yesterday it got into the upper 70's F and the house was 75 F when we got home last night.

Ran the air handler, fan only, for about an hour to stir the air up and cool things off.

Did not have a fire last night at all and this morning its about 68 in the house.

No fire today with temps climbing to the upper 70's again.

By the weekend we may need a little fire as the weather is supposed to cool off and maybe a little rain again.

Summer coming.

Snowy

43 degrees, damp, and STILL raining...guess the stove runs again today.

Cold and wet, wet, wet! Still burning. Best way I know to get the dampness out of the house. So glad I have it and now is so easy to run.
Haven't been able to plant yet. Should have put the cold crops in two weeks ago. Weather man now says two more week of dampness anyway. So I am thinking I am putting plastic tunnels over my raised beds. We lost our garden two years ago to a June that rained every day but one. Cukes and squash seedlings ready to go in now. Tomatoes are ready to be put in. Have them all now in an unheated solar space. (door open) and fan going. If I don't keep the fan going, fungus and mold kills the young plants. Maine weather can be an ongoing challenge.
All this put aside. I am so thankful not to have been in the way of those destructive tornadoes that wipes out a whole community last night.

Still burning here on Cape Cod.

Just running the stove in evenings and really cold/windy days.

Down to burning about 2 bags a week.

Burned up all of my shoulder pellets and the 12 gallons of diesel I put in the HHO tank this year.

Forced to burning up my good Vermont Pellet stash. Down to my last 1/2 ton. :-(

But at least the dog and I are warm at night :)

smalltown,

MWP is supposed to be offering 100% softwood sometime this Summer.
Will pick some up to try from Pellet Warehouse.

Rain would be nice.

We still are getting snow.

The weekend was Ok here with rain showers late Sunday and then again yesterday.

Today is supposed to be nice and then rainy for the remainder of the week.

Running the Quad on the T STAT to keep the chill off.

Still too cold off and on to be done with the stoves entirely.
